A/N: written for - The Great Maze Challenge: You step into the maze and an owl happens to fly by. There's something wet on your head. Ew! What rotten luck!
"Mum!"
Ginny closed her eyes, feeling a headache building at the sound of her daughter's scream. Usually the sound of panic in the six-year-old's voice would have her rushing into the garden, but she was somewhat reassured by the boys' loud laughter that followed the yell. This told her it was a Lily crisis and not a world crisis.
Her daughter sometimes thought there were the same thing.
"Mum!" the voice was louder now, rushing into the kitchen. "Mummy, look at my hair!"
"What is it Lily?" She asked tiredly, pushing away the newspaper she'd been reading and looking up into the adorable face of the girl, large brown eyes welling up with tears while she clutched her two pigtails.
"Look," she cried, bowing her head. "Look at this, the birds pooped on me!"
Ginny honestly tried to keep a straight face, only partly succeeding, especially when her eight-year-old and nine-year-old sons ran into the kitchen after their sister, huge grins upon their faces. The siblings loved each other, she never doubted that, but that didn't mean they couldn't have a few laughs at each other.
Without a word Ginny waved her wand, cleaning the white goo from Lily's long red locks. The girl deflated with relief, sniffing back tears that had occurred during the incident.
"There," Ginny smiled, reaching out to pat her daughter's head. "That wasn't so bad, was it?"
James laughed, sticking his tongue out at his sister. "I told you that you had bad luck Lils!"
"I'll give you bad luck!" the younger girl answered, narrowing her eyes at her eldest brother. James only laughed, rushing back out of the room, followed by Albus and Lily.
Shaking her head, a small smile on her face Ginny went back to reading her paper. She couldn't help chuckling when she heard James' gleeful voice in the distance.
"Don't come out the house Lily, the birds might need the toilet again."
It was followed by another threat from the six-year-old girl.
