I hope you like it!
Lucius Malfoy smiled artificially as he leaned against the violet coloured velvet pillows of the sofa in the generous living room of Malfoy Manor, his eyes raking over the party in front of him.
This was his engagement party, organised by his father and secretly Lucius thought that Malfoy senior was celebrating himself for having such a lucky hand concerning his son's bride. Lucius had rarely ever met Narcissa Black before as she had been two years below him in Hogwarts. And now, he was about to marry her.
He felt bitter about it, being forced into marriage with someone who was a stranger to him, even though he knew that it was his duty to connect with a pureblood witch, he had been raised this way.
Swallowing the last sip from the cup of coffee he had been drinking he got up and walked through the giant wing doors that lead into the garden, away from the hustle.
The moon was illuminating the wide park and in a far corner Lucius could see a feminine silhouette. Slowly, he approached her and realised that it was Narcissa, leaning against a small fountain.
"You should be inside, you are missing all the good jokes my father tells everybody," Lucius said, his voice dripping of sarcasm. Narcissa turned, a crooked smile on her face while she wiped the back of her hand over her cheeks.
"Probably."
They looked at each in silence for some moments, then Lucius spoke:"It feels awkward to marry someone you barely know."
She nodded, gulping hard before she answered:"It is what our parents expect from us. To continue the blood line."
Another few minutes of silence passed by in which Lucius thought about what to say to her. He could clearly see that she was upset, that she just felt as uncomfortable as him, but there was not much he could help her with and there was no way out for them.
"I... Maybe we could agree on doing the best out of it?" Lucius asked hesitatingly, hoping that he was not saying the wrong thing. Making her feel better would help him a lot, he thought as he felt a strange guilt seep through his body. It was as if he had caused her sorrow himself by not being able to find another woman to marry.
"O-okay," Narcissa whispered and tried to smile as he gently took her hand while he waved his wand and conjured to classes of champagne.
"Cheers."
Narcissa downed the zingy liquid in two big gulps, feeling like the alcohol was slowly starting to make her feel better. Even though Lucius wanted to help her she felt like she was about to step into a golden cage, trapped in an arranged marriage for the rest of her life and there was no way out.
