Stay With Me
Summary: (Rewritten scene from 1x09) Saanvi finds Ben in the boiler room, spotting Cal's favorite dragon stuffed animal on his lap.
Ben felt hollow, he felt empty, the looks of Cal's and Olive's faces haunted in his mind as he sat on the make shift cot that Saanvi had made up for those who needed a place to stay. He never thought that he would be one of those people. He had tried didn't he? He tried so hard, but Grace she doesn't love him, not anymore, she loved someone else, she loved Danny, the love for him was gone, he had been foolish to even think that there was a slight possibility that the could work things out between the two of them.
He didn't know what time it had been when he heard footsteps coming into the room, he was prepared for it to be Michaela, knowing that she would want answers, wanting to know what happened and why he was sleeping here instead of at home, he didn't expect to see Saanvi standing next to him, a worried look on her face, he felt a little at ease knowing that it wasn't his sister that it was Saanvi, he knew that she wouldn't question him, not until he was ready.
Saanvi moved to sit down on the empty folding chair, she didn't even after to say anything when she felt Ben lean forward and rest his head on her lap, his fingers clinging onto the dragon stuffed animal, her heart clenched at the sight. She reached out and placed her hand on his head, she ran her fingers through his hair gently.
"Stay with me until I fall asleep.."Ben whispered, he was afraid of sleeping by himself, afraid of waking up the next morning to knowing that he had failed to protect his son, that he lost his daughter, that his marriage was over. It was gone.
Saanvi let out a shaky breath as her fingers continued to sooth him while running them through his hair. "Always."She whispered softly, she moved to rest her hand on his back, rubbing it gently as she stayed with him until he fell asleep.
