Oddworld: An Outcast's Journey

Chapter 1: A Dark World

A young creature named Munch lay in the woods, with little fleas and bugs swarming all around him. He was a short, stubby purple creature with big, blue eyes. Some would call him a freak, others would say he was unique. These days, "unique" or "different" was a compliment to Munch, because absolutely nobody in Oddworld thought highly of him. Munch had a friend named Abe. He was green, tall, burly, and had a short little brown ponytail on his bald head. Abe was Munch's friend ever since Munch's birth. Abe helped raise Munch. Munch was now fifteen years-old, but the aging difference in Oddworld creatures and humans differed enormously. He acted like a fragile old man, even though he had not been alive long at all in human years.

Munch hadn't seen Abe lately. Abe apparently had to go on a faraway trip to talk with one of Oddworld's mayors, Gullo Mortinson. Gullo was rather creepy. Fat, light blue skin, and dark, dark emerald eyes. His eyes were practically slits. At times you'd wonder if he was even awake if you were to look at him. Munch didn't approve of Abe seeing Gullo. Gullo wasn't known for his good reputation. If you were to survey all of Oddworld's population and ask them if they could use only one word to describe Gullo, it'd be "business."

After all, Gullo owns one of the wealthiest manufacturing companies in all of Oddworld. He was mayor plus a owner of OddCastle. What more could he want? But surprisingly, he wanted to see Abe for some reason. Munch had read The Weekly Oddity, Oddworld's most popular newspaper, and at least five times, on the front page had a headline that all had to do with Gullo killing a innocent Oddworld inhabitant just because he/she would not do what he wanted. Gullo had asked someone before to deliver a package to a faraway town in Oddworld, known as the Swamp Sector. It was a very uninviting place, dark skies almost 24/7, creepy birds and creatures would wander the night, eerie noises and howls would be heard around midnight. Nobody dared to go there alone, especially not the young creature whom Gullo had asked.

This infuriated Gullo. Gullo liked controlling and manipulating. If somebody had refused to obey him, his anger knew no boundaries. Gullo picked up the disobeyer and threw him right out his office window, which was thirty-one stories off the ground to be exact. Gullo still breathed heavily, his eyes still sparkling with evil. Munch quivered at the thought. Munch didn't know what to do. He was alone in the woods. He didn't know where his family was, there had been some creepy creatures that had placed a giant steel object around his skull, and after that, his previous memories vanished. Munch was tired, cold, hungry, and lonely, and all he could do was wait to see what tomorrow would bring.
