A/N: My twist to the Southern Raiders episode. Just a short snippet. Tell me how you like it :] enjoy

Disclaimer: I couldn't own Avatar+characters even if I tried. Though...I've never tried.

She scowled watching the waves crash on the cliff side. It seemed to be the only surefire thing that could calm her down, but it did not seem to be working this time.

And then there it was; his voice.

"I don't get it. Everyone else seems to trust me. What is it with you?"

Katara could not believe anyone could be so dense. The others were soft, they gave in too easily, but she would not. She did not forget everything he had done to her.

"What did I ever do to you?"

That was the last straw, "WHAT!" she turned to him and screamed. His expression of agitation quickly disappeared as he recoiled away from her. "What did you ever do to me?" she repeated hysterically. Zuko was beyond the point of knowing he had said the absolute worse thing he could have, by now he was down right mortified.

"Haha," Katara laughed sardonically. "Why don't we count the innumerable things you have done to me to betray my trust." She was glaring at him. "I do hope you have the time for all of it."

"I-," Zuko started, but Katara cut him off loudly.

"One." And Zuko had no choice but to sit there and have her scrutinize him for his past mistakes. "You attacked my village at the South Pole. The first time I had ever even seen you, and right away you were known as the enemy." Zuko cringed at her words. He had not expected it to hurt him so much when she had said that: 'right away you were known as the enemy'.

"Two." She continued, "You sent pirates after us. And that would not have been so bad except then you saw the need to tie me to a tree!"

This time Zuko was able to defend himself, to an extent. "Yeah, but it could have been worse, I could have tied you to something else." I'm an idiot he thought to himself when he saw the scathing look Katara sent him.

"Oh wow Zuko, you know what? You are right." She said every word with dripping sarcasm. "I really should thank you for that one. Thank you so much Prince Zuko, for not tying me to a mast, or a bush. I see that you were being merciful when you chose a tree." When he did not respond she continued. "And then there was Ba Sing Se where I let my guard down thinking you were just lost, confused, and hurt, but I see that I was wrong. You-."

"Stop." He said forcefully. He did not want this thrown in his face again. "I know it was wrong, I know I made the wrong choice that day, but you must believe me, everything I said, everything that happened during that time in the catacombs. I meant it. All of it." Katara turned away from him, once again facing the ocean. When she did not look at Zuko again he stood up and carefully went to stand next to her. He bowed to her and in his most sincere voice began to apologize. "Katara, I am so sorry. For everything I did. I know I can never take it back, but I do regret all of it. I am sorry for all the pain I caused you."

Katara listened, but did not look at him, she couldn't. He sounded so sincere, so hurt, but she knew the drill. When he finished she would accept him, hug him, and he would simply turn around and burn her. Again.

"What are you thinking?" he whispered tentatively after a moment, waiting for a response.

She faced him, though still avoided his eyes, "That's not good enough. Empty words do nothing for me." And she proceeded to walk away, leaving him with his head hanging and his heart shattered.
