A/N: This was my first fanfic, but four years later it's going through a (badly needed) quality update. I read all comments, and every single one means the world to me!

Annabeth POV

"Hi! My name is Annabeth Chase. I'm new." I say to the lady at the desk. She peers at me over the tops of her glasses, which are attached to a beaded cord that strings around her neck.

"Right," She replies, after looking me over, and shuffling through some paperwork. "My name is Ms. Brown. Here's your schedule." She hands me a slip of paper. She seems nice enough. Maybe I'll actually have a good time here, despite not knowing anyone.

I moved to New York from San Francisco to be closer to Olympus, in order to oversee my architecture. I also wanted to surprise Percy. My current plan is to contact him after I get settled in, and figure out which school he goes to.

"Sarah!" Ms. Brown calls. A shy looking girl with mousy brown hair and glasses scurries into the room. "Will you escort Ms. Chase here to her locker?"

"Of course, Ms. Brown," she says. She leads me out of the office, and around a couple corners, navigated the unfamiliar halls with ease. As we approach what I assume to be my locker, she stops suddenly and turns to face me.

"Oh my gosh! You are so lucky!" She squeals, surprising me. She doesn't seem much like the squealing type. "Your locker is right next to the cutest, most popular boy in school's locker!"

By the wistful look on her face, I can tell she likes him.

I chuckle. "Not really my type. besides, I already have a boyfriend." I glance at her, trying to measure how far I can go without overstepping my boundaries. After all, I only met her a minute ago. I decide to take my chances, saying: "Does he know you like him?"

She looks slightly surprised, but sighs defeatedly. "No, unfortunately not. But it's not really like it would make a difference. He claims to already have a girlfriend, and if he didn't, he'd have his pick. Almost all the girls in school have a crush on him." She looks to the floor dejectedly.

I smile in an attempt to cheer her up. "Well, you can hang out with me for now, if you'd like. That way, when he comes to get his stuff, you could talk to him."

Her face flushes. "Umm, maybe I could stay a little while . . . But I am NOT talking to him"

"Suit yourself." I smile, turning to my locker to put in the combination that's written on the sticky note attached to my schedule.

"Ohh! There he is now!" Sarah squeals, pointing.

Laughing a little at her eagerness, I turn. But when I see who it is, my body freezes in shock. No way.

Percy?

A/N: The first update of many to come. Let me know what you think! The quality is still not going to be as good as later on (honestly I don't like the stuff I write until chapter 14, but y'all seem to like it for some reason). Anyway, what I said in chapter 12 still stands.
