Prologue: The Relic

Silently, she sat in the grassy field and felt the wind tickle her cheeks. The night was cool and the moonlight gave her a silvery hue. She was blind, but that did not matter. Her senses were alert. She heard the sound before the other person approached her.

"I was wondering what took you so long to reveal yourself," she said aloud.

A laugh echoed. It belonged to a woman.

"You saw right through me as you always do. Do you know why I am here?"

The girl nodded. "Indeed I do. You're here to take the relic from me." It was not a question.

"You possess it, do you not?"

"I do. But the question remains, will I give it to you? Not without a fight, of course."

She laughed again. "You intend to fight me? You can't even see, my dear girl."

The blind girl stood. "I may not be able to see but I can still fight with my other senses. Or are you too frightened?"

"Not in the least, my dear."

The blind girl stood in front of her opponent and held a double ended rod in front of her. She spun it around until a great ball of lightning emerged from it and hit the woman. She was badly injured and lay still on the ground, though she could still speak.

"How could…" she whispered.

The blind girl walked over to her and squatted down so the woman could hear her.

"You should never underestimate the sister of Queen Serenity. I will destroy you the next time you attempt to take the relic from me. I have good on my side."

"Who are you?" the woman muttered.

"Me? Why my name is Anrielle. I know who you are so don't bother introducing yourself."

The woman lost consciousness. Anrielle stood up and started to walk away. The thought she had defeated someone like that, and in that little time, well it made her smile. It was a good day.
