Chapter 1

The light of the crescent moon filled the cemetery. Vampires gathered around to see the prince finally wed. The only thing missing was the bride. Prince Ethan stood silently hiding his anger. Ethan was prince of Bloodlust. The clan his family created years ago. Unfortunately in order to rule the clan he had to wed a princess from another clan. Sadly his clan chose the clan that had a princess who saw things differently than any vampire. And oddly enough that princess just had to be me. Carefully I watched my wedding from a rooftop nearby.

"Where are you Luna", He thought. "I know you're around. I can smell you". He eyes searched through the crowed but couldn't find a trace. Then he glanced at the rooftop. Anger filled in his eyes.

I lowered my head in shame. "I can't do this Ethan. I'm sorry", I whispered softly. For a quick instant I lost track of him. Then I sensed him behind me. Forcefully he gripped my arm turning me to face him.

"Trying to make a fool out of me?" he asked trying to intimidate me. I kept quiet as I avoided his gaze. He tightened his grip on my arm. "Are you?" his voice grew louder.

"No", was all I could answer.

"I give you a home, food, clothes and this is how you repay me, by leaving me on our wedding day?" Slowly his grip loosened. "Just go", he said trying to calm his nerves. I couldn't leave…not until he was ok. "GO!" he yelled.

Startled I ran to the other side of the rooftop and jumped. I closed my eyes feeling human once again. I felt so bad. I didn't like to hurt others. The feeling of emptiness had overcome me, wanting to hit the floor and waiting for life to end. But that couldn't happen. I was a vampire and vampires can't die that way. Don't get me wrong though I didn't want to die. I just wanted to feel human again.

I waited to feel the impact of the ground. But instead I felt fur. Instantly I could smell the awful smell of a mutt. I opened my eyes as I felt warm hands take me off of the mutt and put my feet to the ground. "Thanks", I said walking away not paying attention to who helped me.

"You're welcome", a deep voice called out. I kept walking ahead not quite sure of where I was headed. But I knew I'd rather be anywhere else but here. I could sense the mutts following me but I kept walking.

"What do you want?" I asked annoyed.

"I can't just leave a girl walk all alone near a cemetery. Damion wouldn't like that", said the same voice as he quickly stopped me in my tracks.

"If you value your life you'll let me be." I said.

The mutt stood before me as I stared at it. Suddenly he began to change. He stood up as his fur slowly disappeared. He regained his human form. "Thank you Aaron", he said kindly before turning to me. "You know you're in danger Luna you can't be out on your own", he said as he stared at me with concern.

"You're the princess Damion is crazy about?" Aaron questioned in disbelief.

I laughed. "Aaron…Shut up." I turned to Damion, "I'm sorry Damion but I can't help it. I can only be who I am. You know I don't care if I'm in danger".

Damion grabbed my hand as I tried to leave. Quickly he pulled me close and pressed his lips against mine. Slowly I pushed away and looked at him.

"Damion…I can't", I said as I walked away.

"You can't run away forever Luna", yelled Damion.

Quickly I turned towards him. He smiled slyly. "I can at least try Damion. You know me, I can't be tied down or stay in one place", I said with attitude. I continued walking down the street.
