How much Greg had known and for how long was a secret he had kept for a long time. He didn't even think Grissom had a clue about how long he had known about them. One morning shortly after Nick's abduction, but before Nick was supposed to be back at work, Greg thought he'd drop by Sara's place to hang out and try to keep the nightmares at bay.

Only a thump against her door and an "Oh Gilbert" heard through said door were more than enough to send him scurrying back to his car and home.

He watched them from then on. Noticing little signs between them, but mostly he noticed what didn't go on. There were no overt signs that he was anything but Grissom, boss of the night shift to Sara. That was, except when you got caught in the phermonic crossfire when they were discussing anything sexual.

That was part of the reason he fled the break room after the discussion about fantasies. The way Grissom and Sara were having eye sex made him think they were about two seconds from jumping across the table and doing it right there in the lab.

Greg and Sara were working a home invasion together one night when her phone rang. She smiled at the display and told Greg she'd be right back. When she came back smiling, Greg couldn't help but say the first thing that came to mind.

"Did Gilbert put that smile on your face?" He was smiling as he said it, but Sara's quick look of shock wiped the grin from his face.

He quickly explained about his accidental stumble upon them at her place and his refusal to discuss anything Grissom and Sara related in the gossip circles. Even going so far as to sidetrack discussions brought up about the couple.

She still looked slightly panicked throughout the night, but by the time shift was over he had convinced her he was sincere in his desire to help keep their secret.

From that point on, Sara had a secret language with Greg too. When her phone would ring and she would smile at it, Greg would shoo her off to have a quiet moment on the phone. There were other signs too. When Grissom went on sabbatical, Greg made sure to check on Sara every day, even days off, to make sure she wasn't too lonely or sad.

He even got to meet the dog, which considering the secretiveness of the relationship and the people in it, was probably something akin to meeting the pope to normal people.

So when Nick asked him if Sara had ever said anything to him, he didn't lie. He had done all the revealing to Sara about what he knew. Not in so many words was a vague enough answer to satisfy Nick and allow them to move on and continue following Grissom around the desert.

Greg did know one thing though, if Grissom messed this up, even after all this time, he would be there with his shovel for Sara.

Because as it is said friends help you move, but good friends help you move bodies.
