Kazehaya shyly snuck over to a picnic table where the beautiful, yet intimidating, Kurumi-chan sat. He carried two boxes of Little Caesar's pizza with him. On top of the boxes were some paper plates. On top of the plates were some cups. From his elbow hung a bag with a one-liter Diet Dr. Kelp in it. He sure was nervous. He felt guilty as well, mostly because he was not sure if he was wrong in seeing Kurumi-chan while he was dating Kuronuma.
"Kazehaya," She noted as he put down all of the food-items. He also put down the drink-items.
"Hi, hi." He sighed, awkwardly throwing himself onto the bench, while clumsily trying to fit into the picnic table that was for public eating.
"You look so silly." She chuckled, as he finally was seated on his butt. He offered the same kind of amusing clumsiness as he poured some Diet Dr. Kelp into a cup, and then into another cup. He handed her one of the drink-items, also known as a cup with soda in it.
"Please don't laugh at me…I shouldn't even be here right now," He looked away in shame while gulping down a mouth-full of soda.
"Kazehaya needs to laugh more," She said with a pout, though she was teasing. "Your girlfriend might break up with you if you take everything too seriously."
"You're very kind for caring," He said, his head still turned away.
"You're a freak," She said, laughing. He laughed too, seeing that she was teasing.
They continued jesting, while drinking the whole bottle of soda. They also finished off the pizza. He turned a paper towel into a paper airplane and showed it to her.
She said nothing while staring blankly.
"Haha, it's a plane, get it?" He howled with laughter.
"You think you're funny but you're not!" She said in almost a sing-songy voice, angrily.
"Wh-what?" His eyes grew big from surprise. What hurt her so?
The pizza boxes, the plastic bag, the plates, the cups, and the empty bottle just sat there, like inanimate objects.
"Kazehaya cares for me at least a little bit, doesn't he?" She asked, tears welling in her eyes.
"Of course- you mean a lot to me!" He replied with a sincere heart.
"I wanted to tell you before telling anyone else…" She began.
"Wait, what?"
"I needed to tell you that… I'm moving…" She buried her face in her hands and sobbed. Kazehaya was speechless.
"It must be some kind of mistake," He stated.
"No! I'm leaving tomorrow for Kentucky…That's all the way in America! I will never see you again!" She shouted, her watery-eyes begging for a response.
"No! You must stay!" He stood and grabbed her hand. "Why is it that it's so hard for me to tell you…"
"What? Tell me what?"
"Nothing," He let go and hung his head. She kissed him on the cheek and said goodbye.
If only I had the nerve to stop her, He thought to himself.
