Have you ever felt pride in something? I certainly have. I've felt the strongest and deepest pride in the power I held. The power to decide who lives, and who dies. The power to rule an entire world from a throne, to make great empires bow before me, to build monuments that will last the test of time. Somethings however, don't last forever. Somethings crack, fade, and rust. Even worse, some things just disappear. It was the last thing that got me. As I floated above the masses, I felt the power that had once filled me, fade away. I began to fall, fall to the people I had once ruled over. Fall into one great big mess.
I woke up with the worst headache. I rubbed my head tenderly as I sat up in bed. Then the thought crossed me, not without making my head even more sore, whose bed was I in? I couldn't remember the last time I had used a bed, I didn't need to. The room was sparsely decorated. It had thin wooden walls, and a table, but not much else. It was dark, as if the place was abandoned. I got up from the bed and shivered as my feet touched the cold stone floor. Whoever this person was they hadn't spent much time in making the place nice. I suspected that whoever made this probably had no skill at building whatsoever. Probably someone new who was trying to hide from the monsters during the night. Suddenly a wall was broken down and a person wrapped in heavy scarves stepped into the room. He didn't seem to notice me but he twitched nervously as he went through the room. Then it hit me, this was the house of David Wade. Wade sometimes helped me as an assistant for certain building projects. He never seemed to get into any of the politics of the world, but sure seemed to enjoy building.
At that moment I began to think about the many times I had transformed and been able to scare him. This would be the greatest time yet. What would I be? An Enderdragon? A skeleton? Or possibly even the Wither? So many ways to scare him, so little time. After I made my decision, I attempted to transform. Key word attempted. No matter how many times I tried however I couldn't seem to do it. Eventually, Wade did end up seeing me, but he didn't seem surprised.
"Quite a fall you had there," he said.
"Something is wrong with my powers, the fall must have killed me."
"Oh no," he said, "it wasn't the fall that killed you, it was the crowd of refugees you fell on top of."
"What do you mean? The refugees love me! They bow and everything!"
"Well yeah, when someone can send lightning down at you, they tend to bow. But since you don't have any powers right now, it seems they decided to take advantage."
"I'll make sure to pay them back for that when I get my powers back," I said.
"Until then, we might as well go see what's going on at the Capital."
"Fine, hold on let me teleport us."
Wade looked at me with an annoyed face, and then it hit me.
"Oh right. I guess we're walking then."
