DISCLAIMER: I don't own any of The Mentalist, its characters, or any of the actors/actresses referenced in this particular story.
It should have been a case like any other, they thought. Solve it and move on, they thought.
But no. It was different. It left a little impression in all four agents and their consultant.
It all began on a bright August morning, a Monday to be precise. The agents had been called out at the usual way-too-early of 7:00 AM to look at yet another corpse. Actually, in this case, five corpses. The crime scene itself was situated between two barns on a small ranch. The bodies had been discovered when the owner of said ranch went out to check something in one of the barns early in the morning and literally stumbled upon one of the bodies. As in, tripped over a dead guy's leg.
Teresa Lisbon strode onto the crime scene with Grace Van Pelt at her side. The two made their way over to the area where a group of forensic techs were doing their thing. Five semi-freshly killed bodies lay peacefully on the dirt.
Grace let out a gasp and went pale when she looked at the faces. She, being the first to notice, tapped on Lisbon's shoulder lightly.
"What's up?" The shorter agent replied. Grace lifted one finger and stiffly pointed at the face of the female corpse on the far right.
It was a perfect likeness of Grace. They were exactly the same, right down to the long ginger hair.
"Whoa," Lisbon gaped as she saw that the other four bodies were the spitting image of her, Rigsby, Cho, and Jane, "am I going crazy or-"
"If you're going crazy, then I am too." Grace cut in.
"They….look exactly like us. Do we have IDs for them yet, Van Pelt?"
'Erm.. yeah. We have Robin Tunney, Simon Baker, Owain Yeoman, Tim Kang, and Amanda Righetti. All actors from a show called 'The Psychic'."
"Which one is that?" The shaken up brunette gestures to the one that could be her twin.
"Her name is Robin Tunney."
"And yours?"
"She is Amanda Righetti."
"This is gonna be a strange one," Lisbon mumbles to herself as she examines further.
AN: So this is just an idea that has been bouncing around inside my head for a while... Should I continue writing it?
