Once there was a boy from the Borough of Queens, in the city of New York, whose name was Peter. He was a bright upstanding student, with his own small group of friends, but he had no physical strength or popularity to speak of.
That is, until the day, like a serpent slithering into a garden, a certain spider lowered itself into his life, and cursed this good boy named Peter. Or blessed him, though that depends on who's telling the story, and, in the end, which side--good, or evil--wins.
For over half a year, this boy protected the city of New York, using the powers the spider, let's say iendowed/i, him with. Even when faced with unsurmountable odds that strength alone could not allow him to defeat, he used his wits and brain to win and come out on top.
Then something completely unexpected happened. Peter was pulled from his city into another world entirely, one made of data, where befriending a small but powerful being known as Wormmon. The two formed a nigh-inseparable duo, and for the first time the boy knew what it was like to have someone he could share everything with, and soon he would share his secrets with another. Though he had befriended, and eve dated, the girl Mary Jane before, the girl had denied any interest in long-term relationships. WIth the, admittedly accidental, revelation of his secret, and her slow but sure realization of the man beneath the boy, Mary Jane began to see Peter as the kind of boy she could commit to, while the boy quickly fell in love with the girl.
Then, almost a year later, Peter was sent back, arriving back in the city not 20 minutes after he had left, along with the creature known as Wormmon. Though there was elation at being returned home, it soon vanished when the boy received word from a friend who had been present in the Digital World. Mary Jane, the girl he had loved, was no more.
And so, this is where our tale begins. Not with a boy believing he is blessed, but a boy believing he is cursed. Though if that is the final word on our subject, only time and this story will tell.
AN: Alrighty, explanation time. The Spidey depicted in this stroy is directly ripped from a Digimon-based roleplaying game I was in a while back. I wanted to continue his story, so here we are. As he was pulled from right after the end of season 1 of the Spectacular Spider-Man, the story will occasionally reference incidents from Season 2 as they happen, partially to frame the timeline, and also to explain any alterations that may have occurred due to Wormmon's presence, though up until the new Sinister Six's appearance they won't be depicted in the story.
