Dieing

As the seasons pass from summer to fall so do the years. Like the change and fall of the leaves. The Hanyou watched as his human companions bodies changed and weathered away. First the loss of the monk, as his body succumbed to the tides of change, surrounded by his many children, and grand children, and great grandchildren. And his beloved Sango, by his side. THen only days later the demon slayer herself succumbed to age, and grief. He had mourned their passing in his own way, but believed that for humans anyway they had lived a full life. But then, nearly a two decades later, his beloved lay in his arms dieing. The two had been watching their great grandchildren playing when she grabbed at her chest and keeled over.

"I'm one hundred and six years old Inuyasha, my miko powers have sustained me this long. But I can't do it any longer," She smiled up at him as all her offspring and their offspring, and their offspring gathered. The youngest crying, the oldest holding their tears back. They each had all heard the stories of the matriarch of the family's youth. How her and Inuyasha and their companions faced down so many evils, the land around them at peace, because of their vigilance. Inuyasha stared down into his beloved's eyes, unsure of what to say,

"Kagome, I, please." She smiled and put her hand on his face.

"This is the one thing you can't protect me from, you hold onto your life as long as you can, teach these young ones as you taught their parents, and their parents. And do the same for their children. I go to join your mother, and mine, and all those that have gone before us. We'll always watch over you." He leaned down and pressed his lips against hers. Her lips smiled under his as she felt the warmth of his body. Then with a sigh she closed her eyes, and she was gone.
