When Rain Falls Down in Wammy's House
Mello sighed as he watched the sheet of rain drip down the window. Now that the ground was all soggy, he wouldn't be able to go out and play soccer anymore.
"Bored?" A familiar voice cut through Mello's thoughts. Brining himself back to Earth, he pouted and complained.
"Agh! The grass is too wet to play soccer! Now I won't be able to play that game I've been planning for weeks!" He looked over at his friend. "At least your favorite hobby doesn't require you to wait for sunshine to come out."
Matt replied with clicking noises of his gameboy SP. Mello grunted in frustration. "Matt, are you evening listening to me?!"
Matt temporarily paused his game and looked up with a wicked grin on his face. "Mihael, don't get so angry with at me. This is the best part of the game. You can't help but not pay attention to anything else."
Mello knit his eyebrows in frustration. Matt knew he hated it when he was called by his real name. "Mail! How many times do I have to tell you not to call me Mihael?!"
Matt shrugged and offhandly said, "But the name Mello doesn't suit you. Plus—" he saved and turned off his game. "—you just called me Mail. You know I don't like that." Matt turned his face up to Mello, who was standing by the window watching the rain.
Mello frowned then came over to the bed next to Matt's. He plopped down on his bed, making the springs creak in protest. Then he turned his body to the side so that he could face Matt. "But you're the one that started it, Mail."
"…"
Mello smirked. "Hey, Matt. Come over here." Mello indicated to the empty half of his bed, and Matt stood up. After a slight hesitation, Matt walked over and lay down next to his best friend. He stared up at the ceiling, then at the boy next to him. Mello was wearing an evil grin and it caused Matt to shiver. He was not liking this at all. Matt was thinking of going back to his bed when he felt something snaking around his waist and shoulder. Matt was surprised to see that it was Mello's arms, and he was hugging him. Matt asked in a small nervous voice.
"Umm…Mello? Are you okay?"
Mello gently nuzzled the crook of Matt's neck. "What's wrong, mail? Getting a little nervous?"
Matt blushed. "N-no! I mean—I was just—"
Mello brought matt closer to him. "Hmm…?"
Matt's face became one with the color of his hair. "Mello…what are you doing…?"
Mello placed a gentle kiss on Matt's cheek. "Why? Can't friends do this?"
Matt's face was now a redder shade than his hair. "H-how come you keep on calling me by my real name?"
Mello closed his eyes and buried his face into matt's striped shirt. Whispering against the cloth, he mumbled, "Because I know you hate it."
Matt frowned. "Wha—?" Then he noticed Mello breathing softly against his chest and realized that the blonde had fallen asleep. Matt wrapped his arms around Mello's body and pressed his lips against Mello's hair.
"Goodnight, Mihael."
Mello smiled and replied softly," Goodnight, Mail."
As the rain gently pattered against the windows in the Wammy house, the two fell into a soft and gentle sleep.
"I love you."
"Me too."
