A/N: When Sam thought she wouldn't make it she told Mitchell to access her laptop. She told him what was in that personal file of hers: "Letters mostly...one to Cassie...some other people...password's 'fishing'." I strongly assume that one of those "other people" is Jack. I also assume that there is no romantic relationship between them at that point of the time line. The famous girl talk in the SGA episode "Trio" takes place a lot later as far as I know.

Mitchell left the infirmary. Sam re-opened her laptop. She knew she had to change her password, but first she allowed herself to read a certain document once more – the one labeled "Jack O'Neill".
Dear Jack!
I have been struggling with how to address you in this letter for quite a while. But I decided that since I am obviously dead – or else you wouldn't be reading this letter – it just doesn't matter anymore. So I might as well call you "Jack". I don't mean to be disrespectful. I just longed to call you by your name so many times and did it so rarely...
I hope my death wasn't completely useless – that something good did come out of it. I would like to think that maybe someone else was saved by it, maybe a member of SG1, maybe you. You did say once that you would rather die yourself than lose me. Same here.
You are an inspiration in leadership, loyalty, courage and integrity. I would follow you to hell and back. Which actually I did.
But you are more to me than just the best CO I could wish for. I still care about you a lot more than I am supposed to, I always have. I would do anything for you. I trust you with my life.
I love you.
I wish we had had a chance – or maybe I should make that 'I wish we had had the courage.'
It was an honor to serve with you, and a great joy to have you in my life.
