Kindergarten Shane. This story is dedicated to a friend who just became an aunt to an adorable chubby little boy. She says that no other boy can make overalls look so adorable and I think she's wrong. This is for Loved-Invention.

Picture Day
---
I hate mommy but most of all I hate daddy because he's the one who made me get them. Jason wore glasses because he was older. I wasn't in second grade yet but dad said I needed them. I don't get why. I still see. How is a piece of glass going to help me see better? Besides, knights don't wear glasses. They'll get laughed at! It's been a week since I hadta wear them and I hated it. Mitchie called me four-eyes but she got detention, so I guess it wasn't soo bad. I was still getting looked at.
This morning mommy woke me up extra early to get ready for the big day.
Picture day.
I was ready to get this over with. All week mommy has been going crazy shopping for good clothes to wear. After my bath mommy instructed my dad to dress me while she gave Nate a bath. Jason doesn't take baths anymore. He's a big kid, he takes showers.
Dad dressed me in brown polka dotted overalls over a white shirt and a red bowtie. Jason was fixing his suspenders while he chatted with dad.
"I think I wanna try out for the baseball team dad." He said.
My dad smiled as he placed my glasses on my face. I got a clear view of his face. His eyes were looking up at my head. He narrowed his eyes and reached out for my hair. I looked in the mirror and saw what dad was staring at. My hair was sticking up kinda like Jason's and Nate's. He got up and called for mom. She quickly entered with an already dressed navy suit Nate in her arms. She sighed."Looks like Shane has curly hair too."

"Hey fuzz ball!" Mitchie laughed. She walked up to me and my friends with her fancy red velvet dress, white stockings and black shiny shoes.
"Leave Shane alone, Mitchie." Ben, my smallest friend crossed his arms.
We were in line to take the picture. I couldn't wait to get this over with so I could take my glasses off so Mitchie would stop bothering me.
"Tabitha says you look like a dork. She also said nobody wears overalls anymore, except for babies and since when do you have curly hair? Is it a wig?" Mitchie asked and then proceeded to pull my hair. I yelled for Miss. Tibby.
"She pulled my hair!" I cried.
Mitchie scoffed, "I did no such thing!"
"I saw her." Ben nodded.
Miss. Tibby looked at Mitchie and crossed her arms, "Mitchie Torres, where are your glasses?"
Mitchie scoffed, "I don't need them."
"Your mom said that you're nearly blind." Miss Tibby sighed as she walked back to Mitchie's desk and pulled out a pair of pink horn-rimmed glasses. She gave them to Mitchie who was near tears.
"But Miss. Tibby! It's picture day!" Mitchie wailed.
"No buts." Miss Tibby smiled at me before she kneeled down, "Shane, don't you look handsome today. I don't think anybody can pull off overalls as well as you can."
I smirked at Mitchie, "Thank you."
"And your hair?" She pointed at my head.
"Moms says that it was en-eva-tabol. She said that it was in my jeans." I smiled.
"Next."
Miss Tibby laughed, "Genes."
My teacher lead me up to the stool that stood in the middle of a blue backdrop. Miss Tibby left and I smirked at Mitchie.
"Did you hear the Queen? She said I looked handsome." I smiled widely as the picture was taken.
Mitchie crossed her arms, "I'm still a princess and I say you're ugly."
I jumped off and shrugged, "A queen over rules a princess."
And like that, I loved my curly hair and new set of glasses. After all, Miss. Tibby thinks I looks handsome.
