Hey guys, here's my first fanfic! I'm a little anxious to say the least, as my writing skills are not that great-- and not adequate enough to be writing about something as epic as Haruhi! But here I am- expressing my passion for the series here, haha. I hope you enjoy!

--Reasons--
Taking the usual path, I hiked up the hill on my way to school. I yawned. Another normal day seemed to be up ahead, but man, I had a horrible sleep last night.
As I entered the classroom, my half-awake state was blown away for a moment by my surprise… Way to be dramatic. Well, this was different. There was a new student, with a head of black hair seated in the vicinity of the classroom. Even more so, he seemed to be holding up a nice conversation with the apparently joyous Haruhi Suzumiya.
Actually, it's not much of a surprise, since Haruhi does take quite an interest in exchange students. Moving closer I managed to take a good look at him. His choppy black hair was combed over to manage to fall more to the other side on his forehead, and his brown eyes were focused on Haruhi, accompanied with a too-happy smile on his face as they were engaged in conversation.
So who was this guy anyway?
"Yo," I managed to say. How great I am with first impressions.
"Kyon! I'd like you to meet the newest member of the SOS Brigade, Sakamoto Kazuma! He just transferred here from a school down south."
Haruhi's enthusiasm was obviously present in her voice. I kind of felt a little knocked around, hearing a loud voice like that this early in my present sleepy state. I guess it is weird though, having a transfer this late. The school year's just a little over halfway done.
He stretched out a warm hand with a smile. "Nice to meet you, Kyon-kun."
Calling me Kyon already, too. I wonder if this guy is as bad as Itsuki.
I took his hand and gave it a nice, firm shake.
"Oh! I'm in your seat, right? I'm sorry." He said this with an apologetic smile.
He stood up, and after giving a small nod and smile to Haruhi, he walked across the room to be welcomed by some other students. I noticed that the girls seemed to take an interest in him, huh?
"He's interesting!"
Haruhi's voice rang with approval, and her big, amber eyes were once again shining with interest.
All I know about him is his name. How do you know he's interesting? Wait, this has happened before, hasn't it? A familiar voice almost singing 'Mysterious transfer student!' played back in my head. It would just be a matter of time 'till I'll hear more...
