A/N: The beginning of the story takes place a few days beforethe Fourth of July. And that is when Colby finds out he is a dad.
Fourth of July
Colby was just walking into the bullpen when he saw her. It had been almost seven years since he saw her last. Only this time she wasn't alone.
"Hey Maria, what are you doing here? And who are these beautiful girls?" asked Colby.
"Oh hi Colby. I just got transferred here and this is Abigail and Emilia. Girls I'd like you to say hi to Colby."
"Hi." the girls said in unison.
"How old are you girls." Colby asked.
"6." said Abby.
"How would you girls like a drink?"
"Yes." said Emilia while "No." said Abby said at the same time.
"Hey David, could you take Emilia to get a drink?" asked Colby.
"Sure Colby." replied David.
"Colby?" asked Maria.
"Yeah?"
"I have to tell you something. Could we meet for dinner tonight? I had just stopped by to get my badge and gun today." said Maria.
"Sure I could pick you up around 8. Is that ok?"
"Yeah that would be perfect." replied Maria.
