Death of a Hero

The scorching wind blew though his hair as Fenrir purred beneath him. The blood seeped from the wounds he gotten in his last battle. He knew he should have healed them, but now it didn't matter; not for what he had planned anyway. Memories flashed across his mind as he drove back toward the memorial of the one whom gave his life for him.

So tired….so so tired.

A small voice whispered over and over in his head. Hojo, Jenova, Sephiroth, Reunion, Geostigma, Deepground, he was tired of it all. The constant fighting, people dieing, the constant jeopardy of the planet, just so tired of it all.

Now I know why Vincent went to sleep for so long, but I'll go one step further. I've said my goodbyes for the last time.

Slowing down, he pulled up to the sword that marked Zack's memorial. "I figured I should come say goodbye to you one last time before we meet again. Heh, I was finally able to take down a dragon on my own you know. Just too bad I underestimated that zolum. Well this is it then, goodbye Zack I'll see you soon."

Steadily he made his way passed the sword to the edge of the cliff. The only sounds being the howl of the wind and the crunch of rock beneath his feet. A pause at the very edge. A smile at someone unseen. The feel of freedom as the wind rushes around his body. A resounding crack, a dull thud. A faint whisper of his name.

The world is fading and it starts to rain as the planet cries for another hero lost.

Finally I rest…………

And so Cloud Strife exhales his last breath, may he find happiness among those whom have passed before him into the life stream.

A/N: So tell me what you think, constructive criticism is all ways welcome. You may find another story with the beginning exactly the same as this, it's because the plot bunnies jumped me about half way through this drabble. ~Matatabi~
