A/N: Requested by dreamsofspike. I haven't read Season 8 yet, but from a wiki search of Xander I found out he had a new love interest and I wanted to add it here. However you don't need to have read the comics to understand anything in the drabble.

By the Window
Spike stood in front of the window, starring out into the city below. Thanks to the specialized glass in Wolfram & Hart building, he was able watch the sunset and sunrise… at least in the safety of behind the glass of course.
Dawn watched him silently at the doorway before moving closer. "So this is what made you return to the dark side?"
Spike glanced back at her and playfully smirked at her. "You know Angel is trying to turn this place around…"
"I know, I know… and so does Buffy and everyone else. We just can't trust this place or what it could do to you guys." Dawn explained as she reached him. Spike nodded in understanding.
"How is she?"
"Buffy?" Dawn asked and at Spike's curt nod, she sighed and leaned her back against the window. "She's doing alright… she's been better."
"And the others?"
"They're doing alright too… Xander's doing much better now that he's dating Renée." Dawn explained, softly.
"And you?"
Dawn let out a laugh at that. "Same old same old… just with different monsters and different people and a whole lot more whiney slayers. I've been better."
Spike studied her before pulling her towards him for a hug. "I'm glad you're okay, Lil'Bit."
Dawn squeezed her eyes shut and held him tightly to her. "I'm glad you're alive, Spike."
