The Red Eyes

"The eyes of a Kuruta become flame coloured when they get emotional. If they die like that, the colour is permanently embedded into their eyes. The glitter in those eyes is regarded as one of the most beautiful things in the world."

Leorio remembered the conversation well (as it was only an hour earlier); it had made his heart throb, to hear Kurapika speak of his own family, his own clan. It had hurt, right there in his chest. Now, of course, Leorio knew what this had to mean, because that same place turned fluttery whenever Kurapika had turned to him with a smile, simply saying 'Leorio' and turning away. That alone gave the older man soft shivers down his spine.

Leorio sat in his hotel room, cross-legged on the bed, thinking. Just then, he heard the door knob turn as Kurapika walked in, quickly removing his over shirt and sitting on the opposite bed, facing Leorio. Staring at the blonde proved only to redden his face. Leorio may have been only 23 but there was no way Kurapika was older than 18 and there was no way that Leorio should be having such thoughts about him. After a long, pregnant silence Leorio decided to ask.

"How old are you?" was the first thing that came to mind. Kurapika turned his head in curiosity, perhaps contemplating his answers.

"19," he said finally, "how old are you?" Leorio stared, 19? There was no way Kurapika was that old, he just couldn't-

"I get that a lot." Kurapika smiled, unfolding his legs to get up and sit next to Leorio, "the, 'there's-no-way-this-boy-is-over-18' look, but trust me, I am." Leorio looked at him suspiciously.

"I'm 23." He said finally, still looking at Kurapika a bit strangely. Kurapika smiled.

"You're only a few years older than me, that's good." He smiled and nodded. Leorio stared, even more puzzled now.

"Why is that good?" Leorio asked finally. The blonde laughed.

"I don't know, I just think it might be weird if I have friends that are too much older than me, that's all." He smiled and started to get up. Leorio grabbed his hand.

"You-" He began, not sure what exactly to say. Kurapika turned his head slightly before sitting down again.

"What?" He asked as he sat. Leorio turned away, blushing. Kurapika smirked, just a little.

"Nothing." Leorio muttered, not looking Kurapika in the eye. The younger started to get up again.

"Wait!" Leorio said suddenly. Kurapika turned.

"Yes?" Leorio got up and quickly kissed the blond on the lips.

Kurapika blushed a deep shade of red, including his eyes. Leorio noticed and began to apologize.

"Oh my god, Kurapika, I'm sorry, err, don't get angry, I won't-. I'm sorry!" He mumbled, trying quickly to cover up his 'mess'. Kurapika grinned a thin, sneaky grin.

"Don't be silly, Leorio, my eyes turn red whenever I get emotional. Any kind of emotional." And he pulled the taller man in for another kiss.
