Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "Scruff's Makeover" from Season 17. Enjoy and comment.
It was another busy day on the Island of Sodor. All the engines were being really useful and getting the job done.
At Whiff's Waste Dump, Scruff and Whiff were collecting garbage when Sir Topham Hatt came by.
"I need you two to collect some rubbish cars at Tidmouth Sheds." he said.
"Anything to be really useful!" said Scruff.
Scruff set off to collect the rubbish cars.
Even though Scruff is old and dirty, some of the other engines didn't like it at all.
"What a messy old engine!" mumbled Gordon.
"I hate being dirty!" said Henry.
"If I was that dirty, I would just stay in my shed all day." added in James.
"It doesn't bother me." said Scruff as his rubbish cars were being loaded.
Then, he puffed away.
Later that day, Sir Topham Hatt came to see the two.
"I think it's time for Scruff to get a makeover." said Sir Topham Hatt.
"Why sir?" he asked.
"Because really useful engines need to stay clean."
Scruff was horrified. He didn't wanted to get a makeover.
"You must get to the Steam-Works right away." said Sir Topham Hatt.
Scruff sadly puffed away to the Steam-Works.
Soon, Scuff arrived at the Steam-Works. Victor was pleased to see him.
"Welcome to the Steam-Works my friend! Sir Topham Hatt says you need to be repainted.
Scuff didn't want to be repainted.
"We shall have you repainted in no time." said Victor.
Scuff was polished and painted, and he didn't like it one bit.
When the work was done, he wanted to get back to the Waste Dump.
"You look so wonderful with your new paint." said Victor.
Scuff didn't say a word. He just puffed away, back to the Waste Dump.
But on his way out, he saw his reflection.
"I look shiny and sparkly!" he exclaimed.
"Do you like it?" asked Victor.
"I love it!"
"We're glad that you like it."
"Thank you Victor! I feel like a new engine!"
Scruff was so happy to be repainted, that he felt on top of the world.
All the engines loved Scuff's paint too.
"Very nice paint Scruff!" said Gordon.
"A huge improvement!" said Henry.
"You're almost as shiny as me!" said James.
Back at the Waste Dump, Scuff had a lot of work to do.
"Hello Whiff! What do you think of my new paint?"
"I love it, but I need some help. Can you move the waste cars?"
"I can't! My paint will get dirty!"
"Can you shift those wagons?"
"No. I shall look for a new job!"
Thomas was collecting passengers at Knapford Station, when Scuff arrived.
"Hello Thomas! I was wondering if I can take Annie and Clarabel for the day."
"But that's my job Scuff. You need to be at the Waste Dump."
"I want to stay clean, not work at the stinky dump!"
All throughout the day, Scuff went across the Island, hoping to get a clean job.
But wherever he went, everyone said the same answer, no.
Scuff was upset, but still wanted to be really useful.
When Scruff returned to the dump, he went right back to work.
But then, it happened. Trash fell all over Scuff's new paint!
Whiff was surprised.
"Are you alright Scruff?" he asked.
"Yeah! It's good to be dirty!"
Whiff and Scruff sorted out all the garbage, and soon, everything was back to normal!
"I rather be really useful than really clean!" said Scruff.
And Whiff agreed!
