Hello guys. I am sorry that it took me so long to finally post something. My summer literally went out the window and I didn't have as much time as I would like to work on this story.

First things first I have some bad news and good news for you. Bad news is the story is not completed, good news is I have like almost 200 pages worth of writing. A lot of it is main story plot and some side writing. My plan is to hopefully use all the pages I have written and more to complete this story. When it'll be completed I have no idea, but I'm going to at least try and update as much as possible.

Anywho I thought it be a nice present to upload at least one chapter to prove to you that I didn't die or given up on this story. I haven't given up yet, but well my muse has been dead for a little while. It's hard sticking with one story and trying to finish writing it.

So this new story is different. Hopefully better and not so confusing like the last one. I really hope you guys like it. This is like my baby and I just hope it's worthy enough for you to enjoy it. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Oh I am working on some art work for this story. I have a few pictures drawn of one of my OC and I am in the process of creating a song comic. I will let you know when they are completed so you can check them out!

Ok I think that is everything I need to say about the story and the up coming the story guys!

Soul Eater does not belong to me. My plot and my characters are the only thing I own.

A Black SUV drove along the hot pavement road in the desert. The sun was high in the sky, burning down on the dry sandy dunes. The black car drove closer to Death City, the well know place govern by Lord Death himself. The SUV wasn't on a tourist visit, no it's occupants were far from a vacation. They were heading to Death City to attend Death Weapon Meister Academy. Some would call this an honor, but the two new students felt it was their new prison. These new students were going to spend the rest of their teen lives, and possible adult life training at this school. A dream to some, but again it didn't feel right to them. They were use to the private training and lesson from their temple. So being around different students and people did not sit well for them.

These two new students were sisters, Melantha and Kayla Slade, but they were not your average students. The two sister held with in them a special power, a power that had been pass down in the family for generations. The Slade family was the owner and protectors of Yin and Yang. What this exactly meant was every head female born into that family would have the power of light and dark. Melantha and Kayla were even more special, they were biracial twins which allowed them to split the power between them. Yet this still wasn't enough to keep them out of the Death Weapon Minster Academy, it was finally there turn to learn from the best in the world.

Melantha signed as she leaned her forehead against the shaded window. She hissed in pain as she felt her skin start to tingle from the windows heat as it burn. She cursed out loud and rubbed her forehead trying to sooth her slightly red light brown skin.

"That's it! I defiantly know this place is going to be horrible. What kind of people live in such an area that anything you touch burns your skin off," Melantha complained.

Her sister Kayla only shook her head and smiled. She didn't mind the move to much, but she was scared how her sister would coup with living in a new place. She always took change hard, especially after their recent accident Melantha had been distant and quite from her, which was not a good sign.

Kayla sighed and looked out the window. She smiled when she saw Death City on the horizon. She grinned and tapped her sister shoulder.

"Huh? What is it?," she asked still annoyed about her new sunburn.

Kayla pulled her arm over to her side of the car and pointed out the window. She looked back at Melantha and gave her a smile with closed eyes. Melantha couldn't help but give her a small smile back.

"You're really happy about this aren't you...," Kayla nodded her head and Melantha laughed, "Alright I guess I will be a little bit happy with you… but if you get a sun burn don't come crying to me," she said with a small grin.

Kayla rolled her eyes and pushed Melantha back to her side, nothing could ruin her mood. They were about to start a new chapter in their lives, and she was just happy they were doing it together.

After driving for another half-hour towards the city they finally made it to the front gates. Both sisters eagerly looked out their windows at the place they were going to call home. It was a small town, but the buildings were tall and built with bricks. They both noticed that some parts of the city were still being rebuilt. Melantha remember a few months ago Death City had a run in with the Kishin Asura. She wonder if her and her sister would meet the heroes who saved the world from total darkness. She frowned thinking about how the Kishin caused a horrible domino effect. New enemies had arise thanks to Asura. It was also thanks to him why they were moving to Death City. Things at home had gone out of balance, ever since that day. They were still learning how to keep balance in the world, but the sisters were not ready for what the world was thrown into. So many monsters came to their sacred temple, but one evil in particular wanted everything they possessed. How the sisters escaped his wrath alive they will never understand, but like always there was a sacrifice made to allow them to come to Death City. A sacrifice they would never forget.

It seemed like forever, but they finally made it to the Academy. The sisters stepped out of the black SUV into the hot desert heat. Melantha placed her hand over her eyes as she looked up at the marvelous Academy. Kayla grinned and clapped her hands together showing her happiness about finally being on this wonderful campus. They walked towards the entrance amazed at the black castle like structure of the school. They finally made it to the steps, the sister looked at each other Melantha gave a small smiled Kayla smiled back. They grabbed each others hands and walked up the steps together. Once in side they did not expect to be meet with hustling students passing in front of them. They quickly separated their hands to avoid a few students who were running to get to class. Kayla looked at her twins sisters brown eyes, seeing clear panic surface in them. She notice her glance at her closets exit, but she clenched her fist and took a deep breath. Melantha never did like busy crowds or people in general, but she was going to make an effort for her sister.

"Ok Kay let's find a way to Lord Death room… you do have the map right?" she asked her while trying to find a path they could take with out getting run over.

Kayla raised her hands and began to sign her response, "… I thought I did, but I can't find it. Why don't you ask a student Mel?" she signed giving her sister a sheepish smile.

Melantha rolled her eyes, "I knew I should of kept the map. It's fine we can ask a student," she grumbled as she grabbed her sister hand and walked through the crowded hall way.

Melantha found a few students who did not seem to be rushing to class; so she thought it be okay to ask them for directions. She stopped in front of a girl with brown pig tails and a boy with white messy hair. They looked innocent enough. They couldn't be a threat to them. The couple seem to be arguing over something, wither it was important or not she could not tell. Melantha stopped maybe it wasn't a good idea to ask them. Kayla smiled and pushed Melantha towards them encouraging her to not be scared.

Melantha stepped right next to them and cleared her throat, "Hi. I'm sorry to interrupt, but I was wondering if you could direct me and my sister to Lord Death's room." Melantha tried to smile afterwards, but it felt force so she stopped.

The girl turned to her and looked at her, "oh uhh yes we can show you, my name is Maka Albarn and this is Soul Evans. Are you guys new here?" she asked them as she started to walk down the corridor.

Melantha and Kayla followed the students, the hall ways started to slowly empty before they knew it, it was just them walking.

"Yes we are new here, or well we will be new starting today once we talk to Lord Death. My name is Melantha Slade and this is my sister Kayla Slade," she said feeling a little bit better now that there wasn't a lot of people around.

"You two are sisters… not to be mean but are you adopted? Cause you don't look like sisters." The kid with white hair asked them.

"Soul! You can't just ask that," Maka yelled as she gave him a stern look.

Melantha allowed a small chuckle to escape her mouth, "No it's alright we get that a lot. We are actually biracial twins. Our father is African-American while our mother is European Caucasians. They were just as surprised as most people were when I turned out to have a dark completion, while Kay had the complete opposite color scheme. We are a rare case of twins, but possible," Melantha finally smiled.

"That's pretty cool… sorry for just asking like that it was not very cool of me…," Soul said as he rubbed the back of his hand.

Melantha looked back at Kayla and say her sign she smiled and nodded her head.

"It's alright, Kay said to not worry about it and she wanted me to thank you guys for helping us," she said with another smile.

"If I may ask why doesn't uh Kayla talk?" Maka asked hoping she didn't cross any lines by asking. She had never seen any one use sign language before.

"Oh it was a freak accident, but she talks by using sign language so that counts for something, right sis?," she asked nervously. Kayla nodded her head and smiled at them.

"Oh ok…," Maka quickly dropped the subject noticing how nervous Melantha acted.

The group of kids remained silent all the way to Lord Death's room.

"Well here is his room. If you guys want anymore help with getting around the place let us know ok? Good luck and see you guys soon," she said as she waved bye to them and walked away with Soul.

"They seem nice… maybe this place wont be to bad huh?" Kayla signed.

Melantha nodded her head and gestured to walk into the room. Melantha took a deep breath and walked in hoping this wasn't a mistake.

Both girls were amazed by the long hall way decorated with looming guillotines. Melantha was about to touch one to see if it was real, but Kayla grabbed her hand and glared at her. Melantha only smirked and followed after her sister who was shaking her head and sighing to herself.

"Oh come on, I had to touch it. It's sharp and cool it was screaming to be messed with," Melantha declared trying to defended herself.

Kayla raised her eyebrow and rolled her eyes not even bothering to respond.

"What nothing? Come on you love to give me an ear fill," Melantha joked with her sister.

Kayla glared as she quickly signed, "I will give you an ear fill later. I'm sure you are going to do something sooner or later. Now remember be on your best behavior we are representing the Slade Family. This is an amazing honor to meet Lord Death… Melantha you're not listening… again," Kayla ended up poking Melantha in the arm.

"I know Kay. I am more than aware of how much this is such a great honor and who we are representing," she said boringly. She frowned trying to hold back her annoyance of her sister reprehending her before she did anything. She looked around her seeing that the hallway was long. She bit her lip not liking how far away the door was.

"Oh don't sound so annoyed. Things are going to be fine ok… I believe we are here," She stopped and pointed to the door with a sign that said "Lord Death's Room".

"Ok… lets get's this over with," Melantha sighed and knocked on the door they heard a voice letting them know they can come in.

Melantha opened the door and stepped into a large room. The walls were like the sky outside a few clouds passed by Melantha and Kayla. Kayla gentle touched one, but it gentle passed through her hand leaving behind a wet residue like a real cloud. She smiled and turned to Melantha, but she was looking at the sand around them. All over the place there were cross sticking up from the ground. Kayla watched as her sister fist clenched tightly. They looked like crosses, maybe from fallen warriors. Kayla reached out and touched her sisters shoulder. Melantha jerked away and shook her head.

"Please do not hesitate to come up. I was wondering when you two will get here, come! Come!" They heard a comforting voice speak to them.

They looked up to see Lord Death standing in the middle of a platform that was a head of them. The sisters looked confused, they were not expecting Lord Death to sound so kind and welcoming. They have heard stories from their mother and great grandmother about Lord Death being a dark intimidating person, but the Shinigami before them seemed gentle and kind.

Melantha and Kayla looked at each other then looked back at Lord Death, they quickly bowed to him.

"It is an honor to meet with you Lord Death," Melantha said continuing to keep her head lowered.

"Yes thank you for allowing my sister and I to train at your Academy," Kayla sighed to Lord Death raising her hand enough for him to see her hand movements.

Lord Death nodded his head, perfectly understanding Kayla, one nice perk of being a Death God you can understand all languages of the world.

"Oh please no need for formality, please! Please come closer so we can talk about the certain predicament we are in," He said as he waved his large gloved hands at them.

Melantha shrugged and walked forward, no formality she could live with that. Kayla quickly followed after here. They finally made it to the gray platform Lord Death nodded his skull head at them both.

"I do hope your trip here wasn't to stressful, but now that you are here I wont feel to worry about the two of you," he said while he moved over to a coffee table that was placed near a tale mirror.

"Um Thank you… the trip was fine. Long, but fine," Melantha said still not use to how gentle Death was.

"Would you two like tea or perhaps coffee? We have to wait for my son Kiddo. Oh you both will like him he is such a wonderful young man!," Lord Death gestured to the coffee table.

The girls shook their head, "Uh no we are ok, but I do have a question Sir. Why is your son joining us? I thought this was to discuss actions and plans on what we are going to do about the new threat?," Melantha asked with a slight concern in her voice.

"Oh we are, but my son is going to give you two a helping hand," he said as he placed his hands back into his coat.

"Father you called for me," they heard a voice call behind them.

"AH there he is, Yes we are over here Kiddo!," Lord Death said his voice rose in tone.

Melantha and Kayla watched as a young man wearing the DWMA uniform of blue pants and white button down shirt with a black tie stepped into the room. His hands were in his pockets as he walked towards them. His gold-yellow eyes looked at the two sisters. He raised his eyebrow wondering who the new guest where. The girls noticed he had black hair and three white lines on the right side of his head. They both looked at each other knowing exactly what those lines were.

"I apologies Kiddo for taking you out of class, but we have very important matters to discuss. Girls this is Death the Kid, why don't you introduce yourself," Lord Death gave them two thumbs up.

Melantha looked at him for a second wondering again if this could really be the all fearing God of Death, but that was something she could talk to Kayla about later. She turned to the young boy who was standing in front of them he had taken his hands out of his pocket and was watching her carefully. Melantha didn't enjoy being under his watchful gaze, she slightly frowned something told her she wasn't going to enjoy this. She knew he was Death's son, but she couldn't find her self to trust him like his father.

"My name is Melantha Slade and this is my sister Kayla Slade and yes we are sisters were biracial twins… sorry just so we can eliminate one questions with out it being asked," Melantha rubbed her arm feeling awkward again.

"… Twins huh? Such perfect symmetry," Kid said with a faint smile.

Melantha gave him an annoyed look, "I'm sorry what did you just say," Kayla placed her hand on Melantha's arm hoping she wouldn't do a thing.

"… hmmm I do see the resemblance just different skin tone, but wouldn't that break the symmetry? But you look exactly alike, just color different does that even count..," Kid looked at them both closely rambling quietly to himself.

"Ok...look uh may I call you Kid… you know what just going with that. Kid I really could care less about this symmetry thing. We have more important things to talk about right now ," Melantha said in an annoyed tone. She breath deeply trying to not get agitated. Kayla squeezed her arm a little hoping she would calm down. The last thing they needed was a fight.

"Oh but Ms. Slade I don't think you understand the importance of symmetry, it the one thing that makes this world so_," Kid started to say but he was cut off by his father.

"Kiddo! I'm sure you can explain this to them later, but we must get back on track Ok! Ok! Now where to start oh yes Kid, Melantha and Kayla are the Guardians of Yin-Yang. I'm sure you have questions for them, but to keep this from getting off track again how about you explain what your situation is Ms. Slade," Lord Death said as his hand came back out from his coat and pointed to Melantha. Kid frowned, but nodded his head. Sadly not everyone enjoyed symmetry as much as him, but he did understand the importance of being focused.

"Yes of course Sir. I'm sure you remember the battle with Asura? Well it has caused problems on our side of the world. When Asura was first released we were troubled with such darkness and unbalance that it was overwhelming to control, but with our mother help we were able to get things back to an almost even balance. Even with things close to perfect monsters did not seem to stop coming out from every possible shadow. Once Asura was defeated we were able to take back control of things and brings things to a balance, but that didn't last very long," Melantha looked at Kayla who gave her a smile encouraging her to keep on going.

"The temple of Balance was attacked by a new evil. He calls himself the Shadow Prince. what he wants? We are not sure, but what we do know is he is after me and my sister. He believes that our power will grant him control of the world. We know it can't grant him much but it's still not good for him to have it. Which is why we are here. To train and fully develop our skills in a safe prison. Oww. I mean where we wont be bothered or attacked again," Melantha rubbed her arm, Kayla had punched her and gave her a harsh glare. Melantha knew she was going to get more than a glare later tonight.

Kid stayed silent and thought over what they had said, "So a new threat has appeared and you need protection and training. You came to the right place, but I'm not sure how I come into play with this father? Can't Professor Stein or the other teachers help them train?" he asked confused why he was even called to this meeting.

"Well Kiddo there is one part they have left out. You do know who the Slade family is?" he asked.

"I remember that name passing up in a book from the restriction section, but no I do not recall the importance of the name,"

Melantha ticked her eyebrow up in anger thinking how could the Reaper son not know of their family.

"Hmm that's alright, I guess this is a perfect time to tell you then! You see back when Asura was sealed I had an issue I couldn't leave this city and still keep a hand on the world. One of the warriors their great-grandmother offer her services to help me. We came up with the idea of me giving her a part of my power, which allowed her to take care of a few of my task. while I work on creating a school to keep a Kishin from being created again. The task I gave her was to make sure the balance of light and dark stay… well balanced," he patted Melantha and Kayla head.

"Their mother is the only one who can teach them because it passed down from her so she is the only one who understood the power. Now that the Shadow Prince is present it was getting to dangerous for them to continue their training at home," He moved his hands to their shoulder.

Melantha looked down not wanting to think about home right now. She wanted nothing more then to be home, but that was not an option for them. Though thinking further could she ever go home and have things be the same; of corse they couldn't, but it was worth the peacful thought. Kayla noticed her sister down cast head, she frowned and gentle took her hand into hers and squeezed it.

"I am sorry to hear about your home, but how can I help them if only their mother can teach them? Can't their mother come here and train them?" he asked looking up at his father.

"Our mother is dead," Melantha said harshly while giving him a cold hateful look. Melantha knew that Death the Kid wasn't the cause for her mother death, but she couldn't help but push her anger and frustration on someone. It was childish, but she didn't care. Her and her sister were forced to come here, to hear Death's son act like there was nothing that could be done agitated her nerves. The room soon feel into silences no one spoke, but Kid finally spoke up. Finally able to think of the right words that would anger Melantha.

Kid frowned, "I am sorry for your lost, but I still don't see how I can help,".

"Don't worry Kiddo. Melantha and Kayla are demi-shinigami, they have the same kind of power as you, well short of you can work that out later. I thought you would be the best teacher for them seeing as you have just completed one of your lines, so proud of you for that!," He clapped his hands together in excitement. "I knew this job would not be a problem for you. But besides that you will be protecting them until I can give them an A+ on their skill development. Think you can do it Kiddo?" He gave him a thumbs up.

Kid sighed, he wonder when his father would stop this childish act. He nodded his head, "Yes father I will help them out."

"Wait, wait, wait. We didn't agree to him teaching us I thought we agreed to you teaching us," Melantha exclaimed. She didn't like Kid there was something about him that just annoyed her.

"Melantha! How can you be so rude! We should be grateful that they are willing to help. Lord Death is very busy. I'm sure Death the Kid will do an excellent job. Now apologies for being disrespectful," Kayla signed her hands moving quickly and harsh.

"What no I am not speaking out of turn. I have a right to talk about my concerns. And you can't tell me I'm not grateful you now I am!," she yelled back at her.

"Now ladies I'm sure there is no need to_" Lord Death started to speak, but the girls ignored them.

"I know your angry right now, but please you don't need to be so harsh. Just apologies for being rude," Kayla sighed her face was red, the only way you could see her emotion.

"Kayla... Your right," Melantha anger quickly turn to understanding. She hated seeing her twin so upset. SHe would do anything to keep her happy, even suck up to someone she disliked.

Melantha looked at Lord Death, "I'm sorry Sir I shouldn't of been rude. I'm sure your son will be able to teach us," she said biting down her anger.

Kid watched them closely. It has been a while since he seen someone use Sign Language. Despite Melantha not wanting to him to teach her. He couldn't care that much. He was going to try his best and that all that mattered.

"It's fine, maybe we can get off to a better start tomorrow. I'm sure you and your sister are tired from your journey. Do you have housing set up already?" Kid asked them. Maybe showing kindness will help smooth over things for them.

"Oh! Yes they have an apartment close to Gallows mansion. That way if you two have any problems Kiddo here can help you out no matter the time. Now how about you run along and show them their classes and introduce them to the rest of the gang off you go now!" Lord Death said as he used his hands in a shooing motion.

"I guess that be alright, Thank you again Lord Death my sister and I appreciate all you are doing for us," Melantha bowed her sister following her movements. They both exited the room, Melantha walking a little faster to reach the door.

"Kiddo I know I'm putting a lot on you, but do try your best to help them out. They have potential from what their mother last told me. And if what they say is true about this Prince character then we will be needing them at their top strength," He said looking down at Kid.

Kid nodded his head, "I understand father. I promise I will not fail you," He said with a nod and went after the sisters.

Death the Kid found the sisters outside waiting for him. He nodded to them and placed his hands in his pockets.

"Shall we get going," he asked them.

"Uh sure," Melantha said with out looking at him.

Kid started to walk down the hallway, not sure on what to say to the sisters. He was aware that one of them did not like him, the other couldn't really talk. What could he possible say to them with out making things more awkward. He could bring up their symmetry again, but something told him that maybe he should hold that off for later.

"If you are not to tired I can show you where your class will be tomorrow. I believe you will be in Meister and Weapon 101, seeing as you are new to the school," Kid said as he tried to remember where that class was.

"… Meister and Weapon 101? I believe we have clep out of those beginner classes. We already can sync our souls together to create a perfect Soul Resonance," Melantha gave him a little glare.

"Oh my apologies I did not know the extent of your abilities. Then can you tell me what tire meister you are? That will give me a better idea where to place you," He said with a small smile. He seemed to keep striking out with Melantha.

"We are at a third star tier, well that is where we are suppose to be, ever since the attack we are not at our strongest. So I guess that puts us at a second star tier," Melantha looked down at the ground again. Why did this topic always have to come up, she bit her lip hoping she would never have to think about this every again. Nothing bothered her more then accepting the fact that she had been knocked down a few pegs, by a villain. They both worked so hard to be the best and when they finally used their skills they failed horribly. Leaving both sisters in a broken state that neither could escape with out help.

"Oh well then I guess that puts you two in my classes… well the meister ones. Which one of you are the meister?," He asked.

"I am, Kayla is my weapon. Are there many classes that require us to split up?" She asked with concern. Melantha glanced at Kayla not liking the idea of splitting up for a few hours or more.

Kid smiled, "No you don't have to worry, there are only a few where demon weapons learn about their own abilities. Right here is where Professor Stein teaches, most of our classes will be with him," Kid stopped and pointed to a class room.

The girls stopped and looked through the window. The class room was large filled with many students. The desk were set up like a lecture hall long tables set up higher then the one behind it creating a step motion. They looked over and saw a teacher with a lab coat, and a screw in his grey hair teaching the class. The twins looked at each other wondering what kind of teacher they would be having.

"Some of the teachers come to this room and teach, but that does not happen too much. Our homeroom is with Stein. We meet with him in the morning and have the first few lesson with him. Let me show you where you will be Ms. Kayla and where our class will be Ms. Melantha when they split," Kid put his hands back in his pocket and started to walk again.

Kayla frowned and tapped Melantha shoulder getting her attention.

"Oh I'm sorry what is it?… oh ok I will say that… I was going to say that already. Yes I was!" Melantha glared at her sister while watching her sign.

"Is there something the matter?" Kid asked stopping in his tracks. Intrigued by their form of communication, maybe that would be a question for another time.

"Yes uh sorry. Please call us Mel and Kay. We get Ms. Way to much at the temple or even Lady Melantha and Kayla. It makes us feel way to proper," Melantha said stretching out the word way and adding smile.

"I apologies then. For now on I will address you as Mel and Kay. Now this is where your class room will be Kay," he pointed to another room and once again the room was set up the same way as before.

Death the Kid showed the two sisters the whole school. He spent a few minutes on his favorite symmetrical parts, which they didn't mind too much. After taking them to the library he noticed them relax and open up to him. The library was their favorite part. He spent time talking about the different books they had here. He even took them to the restricted section, that is where Melantha truly let go of her annoyance for Kid. She finally talked with him about old documents she had read in the temple. She even talked a bit about a scroll discussing about the best way to fight symmetrically in battle. Kayla sat at a table listening to them discuss the importance of symmetrical battle form. She couldn't help but grin, Melantha didn't obese over the idea of balance, but when it came to battle she kept things as symmetrical as possible. Her defense was they were Guardians of Yin-Yang it would be a crime to not fight in a balanced style. It was nice to see her getting along with Death the Kid. Kayla was sure after hearing about how he was to train them Melantha would resists. Yet watching them interact together, showed their was even hope for the two of them.

Kayla yawned and gentle rest her head on the table. She had use to much energy today, she hoped that nothing came up tonight. She needed rest if she was to perform at her best. Melantha heard her sister yawn and looked down at her phone, she gasped seeing how much time had passed.

"Oh my we literally have been talking for 2 hours. I'm sorry I didn't mean to keep you from your classes," Melantha frowned. She enjoyed talking, but she didn't want to keep him from learning. A smile stayed on her lips finally enjoying herself, even if it was for a little while.

"It is fine, school is already out and I wasn't missing to much. Maybe we can continue this talk during our first practice?" Kid asked hesitantly. He wasn't sure how she would react to that idea.

"I look forward to it. Knowing that we share the same idea I can't wait to see what you can teach us. I believe it's time that Kay and I go home. She and I are both tired and this has been an eventful day," Melantha spoke in a quite whisper. She got up from the table and walked over to her tired sister.

She poked Kayla's head, "Come on sleepy head, tables are for studying not sleeping," she said with a grin.

Kayla lifted her head and glared. She just wanted to sleep she didn't care where just as long as she could rest her eyes. She yawned again and got up from the table giving a tired smile towards Kid .

"Yes of corse, would you like an escort home? I will be heading in that direction anyway seeing as we are living close to each other," He stood up from the table and brushed down the wrinkles in his suit.

"Yeah we wouldn't mind that. I'm sure we would get lost. We are not the best with directions," Melantha rubbed her arm and smiled sheepishly.

"Perfect. I have to find my weapons Patty and Liz, but after that we can head home. Will that be alright?" he asked not wanting to drag them around anymore.

"Yes that be alright. Are you up to meeting a few more people Kay?" Melantha placed a hand on her shoulder.

Kayla looked up tiredly, but nodded her head.

"Awesome then it's settled lead the way Kid," Melantha said. She wasn't sure why she didn't trust Kid, maybe all she need was to get to know him. What ever it was she knew this was going to be a great learning experiences.

Death the Kid lead them back out to the busy hallways. Classes had just finished and the students were getting ready to go home for the night. Melantha and Kayla held hands not wanting to lose each other in the crowd. Melantha squeezed her sister hand as tightly as she could. She focused on the thoughts of going home and not the people around her. They were not sure how they were going to adjust to such a large environment, but they at least knew they could do it together. Being push from side to side and almost became separated from each other they lost Kid in all the confusion of students. Melantha cursed under her breath this was the last thing she needed to happen.

"Damn that Kid! Couldn't he at least wait or make sure we are behind him," She could feel her annoyance come back. She blamed her nerves and worry about being in a new enviroment.

Kayla only shook her head and gave her sister a tired smile.

"You know maybe we can find our own way home. We don't need him showing us where to walk, freaking left us in the dust and… don't give me that look Kay," Melantha sighed as she tried to avoid her sister hard gaze.

"You think I'm being to harsh on him and that I should get along with him," Kayla nodded her and smiled, "Well I can't do that Kay. Yes we bonded over battle things, but look what he just did now left us completely on our own. You are beyond tired and don't need to be fighting to get past all these people," She sighed heavily again and run a hand threw her black hair. She also couldn't help but think she placed her trust too soon into someone she didn't know. Yes all he did was leave her behind by accident but to her it felt more then an accident.

"Lets just find the exit and see if he is there waiting for us, if not we will find our apartment. You have the address right?" Melantha rubbed her temple feeling her own tiredness reach her. She didn't feel safe in the enclosed area, though she knew that was her brain creating stupid scenarios.

Kayla nodded her head, and pointed to the exit gesturing for them to start getting through the crowd.

"Alright lets do this don't let go of my hand and don't be afraid to use those elbows," Melantha smirked at her and pulled her through the crowd.

After a few elbow pushes the sisters finally made it to the front doors of the school. They stood up on the steps happy to be out of the large looming hallways.

"See I told you we will get out of that mess. Now lets get home, I want to sleep for a least three days," Melantha let out a breath of air and started to walk down the stairs.

Kayla happily followed, she looked at the students and smiled at passing ones. Her eyes traveled down to the end of the stair way and she spotted Kid and a few other students she had not seen before. She grinned happily and tapped Melantha shoulder. Melantha turned to her, but Kayla moved her sister head to the direction of Kid. Melantha eyes narrowed as she watched him casually talking to two other students.

"Oh so this is where he's been hiding. I swear to his father he is going to_ oww!" Melantha was cut off by her sister slapping her arm, she started to sign.

"No you may not yell at him. I'm sure he has a reason why he didn't go back to us. Instead of rushing in their hotheaded lets be rational and clam and ask him what happened," she moved her bangs out of her face and smiled.

"… Fine I guess we could try that…," Melantha said with a grumble as she crossed her arms and walked down to Death the Kid.

"Ah I'm so glad you were able to make it out of that crazy hallway. I'm not sure how you made it out alive. Please tell us your secrets to that we may master it," Melantha said sarcastically to him. Kayla elbowed Melantha side, "What not calm enough," she asked with a smirk. Kayla sighed and shook her head.

Death the Kid turned and raised an eyebrow, not expecting to find them there or for Melantha to speak in such a tone. He thought they had over pass their rough patches, He guessed he spoke to soon.

"I'm glad you found your way out. I assure you that losing you back there was not my attention. I apologies," Kid responded with a frown. He wanted things to work out, but once again things seem to keep happening.

"Sorry my ass… I mean it's fine Kid we found you so it's alright I guess…," Melantha rubbed her arm and looked down. Trying her best to be civil.

"No it's not, let me make it up to you two. How about we go out for dinner it be my treat. I'm sure you are too tired to cook anything and it be a great way to show you around," Kid offered to them with a smile.

Melantha looked at Kayla who nodded her head yes, "Well I guess we can do that," she said giving him a small smile.

"Excellent! Let me first introduce you to a few friends of mine," Kid gestured to the two girls standing next to them. Melantha forgot they were standing their she gave them a small smile feeling once again uncomfortable.

"Melantha, Kayla this is Patty and Liz Thompson, they are my weapons. Liz, Patty this is Melantha and Kayla Slade. They are new students coming from uh… a private training school," he said coming up with a cover story. He wasn't sure if he should spread their story about at this moment.

The taller girl with light brown hair smiled and put out her hand for Melantha and Kayla to shake, which they did. "It's nice to meet you two, I hope Kid hasn't drove you crazy yet," Liz said with a laugh.

Melantha smirked, "He might already be there and I only know him for three hours," she smiled liking how nice Liz was to her.

"I'm Patty it's nice to meet you. Are you sisters like us?," she asked noticing how Kid said they had the same last names.

Melantha smiled a bit more, "Oh yeah we are biracial twins… it's nice to see other siblings here," Kayla nodded her head in agreement.

Kid watched them talk and sighed happy that they took a better liking to the Thompson sisters. At least they could be comfortable with a few people.

"How about we walk and talk. I'm sure you are hungry right?," Kid asked.

"yeah It has been a while since we eaten lets get going then," Melantha said with a grin. Food always placed her in a good mood.

The small group of young adults spent the rest of the evening walking all over Death City and learning more about each other. The dinner went well, but now they were walking home after a long night of activities. Melantha and Liz bonded well, being the older of the their siblings they understood each other. Death the Kid stood behind them with Kayla and Patty. Patty was humming and skipping in her steps her mind thinking of other things. Death the Kid mind was else where thinking about how he was going to train the Slade sisters. He spent a good few minutes wondering if he placed his book back in the right spot of his room. He frowned and placed his hand in a L shape against his chin thinking.
Kayla noticed how Death the Kid was thinking hard. She bit her lip and wondering if she should talk to him.

She tapped his shoulder and signed "A penny for your thoughts?" She asked him.

Death the Kid raised both eyebrows and turned to her, "Oh thank you, but it's alright," He said with a smile.

"You look like you want to talk and you can understand me so why not talk it out. So what is on your mind?" she signed again with a smile.

"Oh well I'm trying to think what I can do to train you and your sister. I'm also wondering if I placed that book back in its place or even that picture… did I move it… that's not important right now," He said shaking his head knowing if he thought anymore about it his OCD will take a hold of him.

"Hmm that is a lot on one person mind. If it helps you calm your thoughts what ever you decided it will help us greatly. Also just give Mel some time to come around. She is always… uncomfortable and a bit rude around new people," Kayla smiled at Death the Kid. Hoping her words were understood by him.

Death the Kid smiled back and nodded his head looking a head of him. His eyes landed on Melantha, she was smiling more and laughing a bit.

"I guess you are right… if I may ask why can't you talk?" he asked as he turned his attention back to Kayla.

Kayla gave him a sad smile, "That is something Mel will have to tell you. What I can tell you is it was a freak accident one we plan on not happening again. Though I did enjoy this conversion we had," Kayla gave him a gentle smile.

"Thank you Kay, I will talk to her about it and what you said did give me some peace of mind. Thanks again," he said feeling a bit better. Death the Kid noticed that the twins were different yet special. He knew it will take him time for Melantha to warm up to him, but he at least knew he had Kayla trust.

The group finally made it to the last apartment complex before Gallows Mansion.

"Well here is our stop, our room number 315 right Kay?" Melantha asked her sister as she racked her brain for the right number. Kayla nodded her head and smiled.

"Awesome and your place is just down the road right Kid?," Melantha asked him making sure she had her facts right. When she was tired and sleep deprived she would get her facts mixed up.

Kid nodded his head and gave her a small smile, "Yes if you need anything please don't hesitate to come over. Also if you run into any serious trouble Lord Death number is 42-42-564. Just wright that into a mirror and he will get in touch with me," Kid said as he placed his hands back into his pockets.

"Thanks. We'll remember that have a good night you guys," Melantha said as she waved goodbye. Kayla waved also and followed after her sister.

Melantha and Kayla made up to the stair in silences. They both were tired and didn't have to much to say to each other. After 3 flights of stairs and a mishap of mixing up doors they finally found their apartment. Kayla took out the key and opened the door. The walked into the cold dark room, Kayla placed her hand on the wall looking for a light switch.

"Wait I got it. I see a lamp over_oww… damn box. Ah there we go," Melantha said as she turned on a desk lamp. She rubbed her shin glaring at the cardboard box. The apartment room was covered in moving boxes, both sister sighed and sat on the couch together.

"I'm happy it's Saturday tomorrow, but I'm really not looking forward to unpacking… Can we just live out of boxes?" Melantha said with a whine as she placed her head on her sister shoulder.

Kayla let out a strain laughed and placed a hand on her head and smooth down her head. She shook her head and smiled, "we should sleep, we have a long day tomorrow," She signed and pushed her off the couch.

"But I don't want to wake up tomorrow morning," she whined again, but headed to her bedroom.

Kayla only shook her head, "Goodnight Mel," she smiled as she walked to her own room.

"Goodnight Kay, sleep well" Melantha looked at her with concern.

"I love you," said turned signing to her with a yawn with a smile.

"Love you to dork," Melantha waved goodnight and went to her room.

Kayla sighed and went into her own room. With sleep being the only thought on her mind.

Melantha heard her sister, Kayla, close her bedroom door. She frowned and quietly opened her door again. She walked out into the dark apartment and turn on one of the lamps. Quickly and quietly she observed their new home making sure no shadows moved and their surroundings were safe. She opened one of the windows and looked out into the dark night sky. Things seem quite, but not absolute silences. She could live with that, as long as things didn't become completely silent they would be okay. With a sigh she closed the window keeping out the cool night air. Turning the light lamp off she went back to her room satisfied that nothing followed them here and that this apartment was safe. She wasn't sure how long things would stay safe, but she would be damn if she allowed anything to happen again. Melantha tired eyes finally closed as she her head touched her pillow.

If only she stayed a wake a few seconds more. She would of saw the darkness in the corner of her room move and leave out the window. Safe she was now, but later... One could never be so sure. One should always know, you can never escape from darkness no matter how far you run.
