This was written for the ever lovely forthrightly's Foolish Mortals April Fool's Day Challenge. As such I dedicate this story to her and the humor and charm that her Miroku always seems to carry with him. This one is for you and yes … it made me giggle when I wrote this.

Sango looked at her friend from the future with a skeptical expression on her face as they both spoke in whispers muted by the crackle of the fire that held the centerpoint of the camp.

"Are you sure this will work, Kagome?"

A knowing nod was her initial reply and an almost devious smile lit the young girl's face. She had just gotten through telling the group about a holiday that some observed for the first day of April and how many people celebrated that holiday. All that remained now was to turn the tables on a certain amorous monk.

It had been astonishingly easy. Miroku had been conversing with Shippou about the inhabitants of a village that they would be traveling to in a few days and Sango had casually walked up behind him and well, Miroku'ed him. That she had managed to do it without blushing crimson had allowed her to give him a look of utter innocence as she continued on and had him beginning to doubt whether it had happened or not.

At least, he had been doubting that it had happened until Kagome did it too. In his shock he didn't even take advantage of the nearly dozen things he thought of to say in response a few moments later and Sango had strolled by and casually with a finger under his chin closed his hanging open mouth. In a daze he followed the group as his thoughts shuffled rapidly into one another. Was this really happening to him? Surely this was nothing more than a dream, a puzzling, pleasant dream?

Things might have continued downhill for the monk save that InuYasha had a moment's pity on him after the second time Kagome had walked up behind him to complete her objective. It wasn't that he hadn't been snickering inwardly as this all happened, as far as he was concerned Miroku had it coming. He just didn't like it that Kagome was one of the willing participants. So he whispered what he had overheard to the monk.

Proving of course that no plan is foolproof. The next time Sango and Kagome swooped in to deliver their bit of April-foolery he was ready. They had tried for a double strike but neither had counted on his wariness and his almost demonic reflexes now that he was aware of what was going on. With InuYasha's disgruntled shout of HEY ringing in the stillness of the clearing both Sango and Kagome stood there and blinked at each other.

How had he moved so fast as to kiss the both of them before strolling onward, waving his gloved right hand in the air, asking the time worn question?

"Would it be too much to suppose that one of you lovely ladies is ready to do me the honor of bearing my child?"

"Huh." Kagome finally breathed out. "Well … I guess we had that one coming."

Finally the blush she'd suppressed came to Sango's face. "Miroku … sure can kiss."
