The challenge this week is to use one word, that can be pronounced in different ways, both ways in the one drabble. So here is Lead, sounds like bleed and bled and a second chapter using Bow. Enjoy.
I knew he would explore every single, desperate lead he unearthed.
Follow every path that hinted at my whereabouts.
I knew this and so I kept my faith.
Through those interminable hours, I endured.
So now we sit quietly, though the shrill shriek of metal on metal as he tore me from my lead-lined coffin bleeds in my ears and I lean close to him.
I am rendered pitiful, ravaged by imagined, remembered terrors in the darkness.
Can I ever find the courage to close my eyes?
To one day sleep again?
Maybe, so long as he is near.
