A/N: Sad story, CHARACTER DEATH!

You sit in the cold apartment, at her side. You haven't left in days, and you have no plans to, afterall, you promised her that. You promised her that you would not leave her side, until she left yours. And now, as the seconds and minutes tick by, you know that is coming closer.

JJ is dying, and you cannot stop it.

The only thing you can do is keep your promise and that is simply to be there. Will left when she first got sick, apparently he couldn't watch his wife die, he couldn't watch something so barbaric take away someone he loved so much. So, in his idea of love, he walked out on his wife and son.

By then, JJ had become too sick to have the energy to focus on Will- she focused it on the current love of her life. Her son. And as her condition worsened, she asked for something you never thought JJ would. She asked for help- and that was what broke you.

Not that you knew JJ was dying, not that Will had left, not that Henry would be without his parents, no. What broke you was JJ asking for help. What made it worse was what she asked your help with.

She wanted a bucket list for her to do with her son before she left. And by God, she didn't need to ask twice. So, with her in the hospital bed, you sat by her side with a pen in your hand- she had already become too weakened to write, but she was still fighting.

And so together, over the course of a few hours, you and her designed a bucket list for JJ and Henry to do. The doctors had warned you that JJ had maybe a month, but because they were not exactly sure what they were dealing with- they couldn't provide an exact time frame.

They did know a few things though- whatever was happening to JJ was unheard of. Nobody knew, none of the specialists they had contacted, not the brightest minds in the medical community, nobody. They did know that it was neurological, and that it was stealing JJ's life at an alarming speed. They had no name for it, no expectation for it, what would come next- but somehow they were able to tell you that JJ was dying.

And it killed you when he saw JJ accept it; she had known all along. The seizures began becoming more violent, more common, her speech was becoming harder to understand, and one day she woke up and screamed his name. She couldn't see- and you held her in his arms as she cried and cried as she lost more and more control over her own body. You had cried with her.

What you did that day was make sure that the bucket list they had dreamed up, would come true- at least the one's JJ was still able to do.

You went to the zoo and while she was in a wheelchair, she enjoyed every moment of sunshine and happiness with her son and the BAU family.

Rossi paid for a private screening of every Harry Potter movie at the theater, just you, JJ, Henry and the team.

You took her Christmas shopping for Henry- and although it was July- she enjoyed buying the gifts for her son. The gifts she knew she would never see her son open.

And then just a few days ago, you and the team organized what JJ would never expect. Her favorite football team and surprised her at the BAU- had come to hug her and thank her and to promise to make Henry the biggest fan they could. He was presented with life long season ticket passes. And JJ had cried- this time tears of happiness.

You got the call just last night, Henry had run into his mother's room and screamed when she wouldn't wake up. Morgan had been there, and quickly called you.

You, in turn, called hospice.

And that's where you stood now, watching as her breathing became more shallow, as her lips lost any color, and you held her hand tighter and tighter. You promised her she would never be alone.

And when she drew her last breath, you reached over and kissed her on the forehead, wiping the tears that fell.

She is finally at peace.
