The experience of falling to Tartarus reminded Annabeth of going through the long slide at the theme park she used to go when she was much younger, except that the surroundings were cold, dark, eerie and not the least bit fun. The thought of falling to the darkest pits of Tartarus, where no other mortal has ever returned from, was very disconcerting.

Percy was still holding tightly on to Annabeth's hand, wanting to never let go of her. Percy was squinting his eyes through the total darkness, hoping he could see Annabeth's face. He really hoped she was fine, and would never live with himself if he let anything happen to her again. He tried to encourage Annabeth and make her feel better, but he couldn't hear himself, with the rush of the wind against their literal downfall, and much less hear her. After all that they've been through, Percy didn't want to lose Annabeth ever again. He held on to her hand even tighter, like the fate of the world depended on it.

Meanwhile, Annabeth was feeling the increasingly excruciating pain on her ankle, brought upon by the strands of spider silk pulling her down even more, and she was unclear if she could even feel her ankle. Annabeth couldn't hear Arachne anymore, and couldn't care less about the spider goddess at the moment. "As long as we're together" Annabeth heard Percy's voice barely audibly, though she wasn't sure if Percy was saying it at the moment or if she was recalling him saying that. Probably the latter, she thought, as she fought back tears, thinking about all the things they've overcome together over the past years. As awkward as it was, Annabeth tried to embrace Percy, and feel his warmth, possibly for the last time. No, she told herself. This couldn't be the last time. They had to make it through. For the gods, for their friends counting on them, for them. After all they've been through, surely they could get through just some fall to the pits of the Underworld, although it felt like it could be a few times longer than a walk between the extreme ends of the Great Wall of China. Annabeth had never been to China, but with her knowledge about infrastructure design around the world, she was incontrovertibly sure this fall was a lot longer.

I had this English assignment to write a short sequel to a book so I uploaded it here anyway. I'm not really sure why. This is my first fic so it would be nice if you could Read and Review! :)
