A/N: Thank you to Chibipinkbunny, who always seems to find all the issues in my stuff that I never think of :p

There was a muted clang as Angeal's key collided with the cold tile floor. Grumbling something about ShinRa's locks needing replacement, he bent down to retrieve it. Straightening up, he put the key back into the lock and tried to turn it, finding that the door was already unlocked. His brow furrowed for a moment, then he turned the doorknob and opened the door.

Aside from what little early morning light had streamed through the closed blinds, the small office was dark. Angeal shrugged off his coat and threw it onto his desk chair as he strode over to the windows to open them, hearing the soft rustle of fabric as it landed at its intended destination. Suddenly, a surprised yelp and a loud thump from his desk shattered the silence. Angeal pulled the blinds open and whirled around.

Light now flooded the room, illuminating the office furniture and a large dark blob that now lay on the floor in front of his chair. It moved slightly and whimpered.

"Owwww…"

Angeal shook his head and released the breath that he hadn't been aware that he had been holding as Zack sat up slowly, rubbing the back of his head and wincing. He sat down at his chair as the younger man stood up. "Hell of a wake up call…" Zack muttered, still massaging the back of his head.

"Why are you in my office?"

"I lost my keycard, I couldn't get into my apartment."

"And you didn't think to ask your roommate to let you in?"

Zack walked over to look out the window, stretching his arms over his head. "I would've, but Andrew's handling a monster issue in Corel. And I couldn't call the front desk because I got back in the building at about two last night."

Angeal nodded, unsurprised. "You were with Erin?"

Zack turned back to him and cocked his head. "Who? Oh, her. No, we broke up ages ago. I was with Samantha."

Angeal rearranged a stack of folders on his desk. "If you put as much effort into training as you did into girls," he said as he opened a desk drawer and gazed at its contents intently, "You'd be as skilled as Sephiroth by now."

"Yeah, because I want to be just like a guy who uses a bottle of conditioner on his hair every morning."

Angeal chuckled, his eyes still scanning the drawer. Finding what he had been looking for, he picked up a small blue card and tossed it at the 2nd Class. "Go open your apartment door."

Zack caught the card and examined it. "Why do you have a copy of my keycard?" Angeal raised an eyebrow at him, but said nothing. After a moment, Zack shrugged and left for his apartment, closing the office door after him.

Angeal followed him with his eyes as he left the room, then went back to the stack of folders on his desk that demanded his attention. He opened the first one as he clicked a pen and stretched his legs out under his desk. He frowned as he felt something under his shoe. He leaned over to get a closer look, and found a blue card. He picked it up and flipped it over, finding Zack's nearly illegible signature scrawled across the back. It must have been in Zack's pocket the whole time, he just hadn't known it.

Angeal laughed out loud as he opened the desk drawer and dropped the card in. At least now he didn't need to make another copy.
