Have I Told You Lately :

There was no more sound coming out of the room. Emily had given birth, but the doctors had asked Hotch to wait a little longer before coming in. Apparently something wasn't quite right with the baby.

Minutes… No, decades after, the nurse came out of the room and told him they could come in. Emily was sitting on the bed, looking as radiant as the sun. She was beautiful. And in her arms a little brand new life was sleeping quietly.

Emily smiled at him, the most wonderful smile she had ever given to him. He walked to them like in a dream and sat on the bed with religious respect. Like he was in front of a miracle. Emily bended forward and carefully put the baby in his arms.

Yes, it was a little miracle.

-I love you.

Hotch kissed the little sleepy face. Then he looked at Emily and kissed her softly too.

-And I love you.

-I know. I love you too.

-Daddy I can't see, whispered the little boy standing next to the bed.

It was like he didn't want to break the spell either, but he wanted into it.

Hotch bended forward to bring the new comer to his son. Jack's eyes opened wide, full of curiosity. What was that little thing everyone was looking at?

-Say welcome to your little sister Jack, Emily said.

The little boy looked at her, then at the baby again.

-Welcome… Why is she so pale?

Hotch looked anxiously at his lover.

-That's what the doctors wanted to check. But everything is fine, her skin is just very white that's all.

Hotch sight his relief and unconsciously brought back his daughter against his heart.

-Daddy…

-Sorry Jack. She so looks like you Emily.

She smiled and rand a loving finger on her daughter's face. Jack looked at the baby, then at Emily, and again at the baby…

-No she does not. She's all fat and wrinkled.

-Ooooooh. Thank you Jack.

Emily kissed the little boy's hair under the amused look of his father.

-It will wear off Jack. When she'll grow up, Hotch said.

-I hope she'll do it fast, answered his son.

-Oh no. I hope she will always stay like that, Emily said.

She took her baby back in her arms and brought her knees against them in a protective gesture. A tear ran down her cheek. Hotch sat back in the bed and warped his arms around her.

-Sorry I'm just exhausted.

-It's ok, he whispered as he kissed her hair. I want to teach her to ride a bike.

-And to use a swing, Emily added quietly.

-And to play with me!

Hotch and Emily laughed. Then there was a silence. Emily had lost herself in that little face wrapped in pink and Hotch was lovingly looking at both of them, his two wonders.

After a moment a very shy a respectful whisper came out of Jack's mouth.

-What's her name?

-Sophia. Sophia Hotchner-Prentiss.

-It's me!

-I'm here!

Emily came through the door. In the kitchen someone was softly singing along with the radio. A 16 year old teenager, with curly black hair falling down to the middle of her back, wearing a short white dress was slowing swinging from one foot to the other with the music.

-Hay pussycat, Emily kissed her daughter on the cheek. That's your song remember?

Sophia looked confused for a second.

-Yea… You use to sing me this when I was a kid. To make me sleep.

-Yes, and so did Dad.

The last verse of the song started and the two female began to sing along.

"And have I told you lately that I love you
Have I told you there's no one else above you
You fill my heart with gladness
Take away all my sadness
Ease my troubles that's what you do…"
