From across the yard and through the street came that bellowing howl. Taking one listen to it, I began to get chills. What could have possibly made a ruckus that elevated just to vanish into thin air? I, however, continued on without a care.
The clouds began to congregate as the sky faded to black, but I continued on without looking back. When all of a sudden a screech pierced my ears; I turned around and captured my darkest fears.
A mangy looking dog, of decent size
was mawing at a woman's ankle; clawing out her eyes. Afraid to move, I ripped my eyes off the gruesome sight, scaling a tree and taking mental notes with shaking thought. The dog moved about like it was un-dead, or could I have possibly have been losing my mind?
No, I couldn't be. For the flesh that was missing could have had fatal consequences. That fragile yet deviant limp, and the bones protruding; I was dealing with something dead yet living...
After some time the beast had its thrill; It limped away from the newly-made meal. Descending the tree, I cautiously approached the prey; the image burned into my mind for the rest of my days.
The corpse lay there, her seeping blood painting the concrete a deep crimson. Just a few moments have passed, and already the stench is overwhelming. But I can't tear myself away...It still seems so unreal.
Then that howl beckoned yet again, this time sounding twice as daunting as before. I turned to flee, but can't- a cold hand has attached itself to my ankle. Screaming does no good as the cadaver begins to move. Instead, it sparks hunger within, and I am lacerated. Crying out in agony as my skin and flesh is ripped straight from my body- like meat off a deep smoked bone.
Now crawling for dear life... frantically searching somewhere-anywhere to get away safely, but only to discern blood dripping down the hound's face. As my being is cleaved to shreds by these demons, dying thoughts ask "Why... me?..." Then arrived the never ending calignosity.
