CHAPTER 1

It was midday at the apartment of Joanne Jefferson and Maureen Johnson. The specious 5th floor upper east side apartment was quiet. Joanne sat at the kitchen table her work laid out in front of her. Maureen had had an audition last week and was ecstatic to find she had received a call back! she wouldn't be back till three, so the lawyer was left to her own devices and she did what she did best… work!

Joanne really hoped Maureen would come home with the part the poor diva had been laying around the apartment for the last few moths going to audition after addition only to come up sort each time, coming home with a crushed spirit and, even less hope than before. auditions were exciting for Maureen but know they became a choir that she was slowly beginning to dread and today was no exception.

"Pookie! Pookie!" Joanne was brought out of her thoughts by the shrieking of her girlfriend. "What?" Joanne asked franticly mistaking her girlfriends glee for anguish. She threw her arms around Joanne wrapping her in a bone crushing hug. "what is it Maureen?" Joanne asked again.

"I got the part! I got the part! I got the part!" she cried happily jumping up and down over and over again.

"Oh, Honeybear that's wonderful, see I told you if you just kept at it something good would come your way" she said laying a gentle congratulatory kiss on her cheek.

"Ahuh!" she said throwing her arms back around Joanne. "Its no Broadway show but it will do!" she shirked. "I'm so happy!"

"what's the show called?" asked Joanne.

"its called the Wild Party." she said pulling the script out of her tote bag. "what's your characters name? Joanne asked. Flipping through the script. The whole book was filled with nothing but raunchy jokes and drug abuse OH! And a wild party.

"Kate and she's is perfect for me!" she said bouncing on the balls of her heels. "I can tell Joanne said reading over a few of Kate's lines. "You certainly are the 'life of the party.'" she chuckled stopping to look at one of the songs Maureen would be sinning. She couldn't help but smile at her girlfriend's excitement. If she was happy Joanne was happy.

Joanne gave a sigh handing the script back to Maureen "when do rehearsals start?" she asked as Maureen tucked the booklet back into her bag. "huh? Oh! In a month plenty of time to prep."

"we'll no use prepping on an empty stomach… how about a late lunch, huh?"

The diva's eyes bugged out her skull as her mouth curled into a smile at the mere mention of food.

"Yes!" she said as her eyes rolled into the back of her skull.
