This was it, she thought. It's now or never. Hogwarts alumni Halloween masquerade ball was the perfect time to show her true feelings without him truly knowing it was her. Slowly she got up from her seat and maneuvered her way across the dance floor. There he was just a head of her, and thankfully alone. She knew it was him by the way he stood straight and looked ahead without any emotion in his face, but his eyes, a soft grey that could melt any girl's soul. He was perfect. His hair was neatly combed on his head, long gone were the days when he would slick back is blond locks. Just looking at him for one second she almost lost her nerve, but she moved the last few feet.
"Draco," she whispered close to him.
"Yes, come." He ordered without a thought and led her though the curtain to a secret cove that was to be there's alone.
He took off his mask and leveled her with a stare, asking "What took you so long, Hermione? You're supposed to be a Gryffindor, bloody brave and all that."
She was shocked to say the least, he knew it was her even though she wore different hair style and color and covered her face. She was even wearing deceptive heels. Gathering her courage or bravery as he said, she walked straight up to him and stared into his eyes, just for a moment. Then she kissed him soundly on the mouth. Before he could truly respond, she left him alone in the alcove, feeling his lips for that was the best kiss he'd ever have in his entire life. He knew of course that she was truly with the weasel and that he shouldn't feel this way, but things never happen the way you want them to.
She had done it and she left him standing there, alone. She wished she had more time just to be with him but she took too long as it was. Ron would be worried if she stayed away for too long. After all Harry was good at distracting him, that is until a good looking girl walked past. After the war, something left Harry and he was freer than she could ever imagine him being. It was truly refreshing.
She spotted him on the dance floor grinding with Susan and walked over to him.
"Harry, where's Ronald? You were supposed to be distracting him."
"Um, sorry. Susan here wanted to dance and I just couldn't say no. He should be by the food."
Typical, food, Ron was always eating. She was surprised that he worked enough around his appetite to buy her the ring he'd proposed with just 2 nights before. It was perfect but she couldn't truly say yes without knowing what she knew now. He was a great man, perfect for her many would say, but she loved someone else, that she was sure of after tonight. But she did love him, and she would marry him because it was just the way things were. She spotted him by the punch and walked over.
"Ronald, I'm ready to head home. We need to discuss something." She winked at him playfully.
"Okay, 'Mione. Sounds good." He smiled back.
On the way out he noticed something though, or should he say someone. Draco Malfoy was staring longingly at his girl, serves him right he thought. If only he knew the half of it.
