"Mom? Mom!" And as usual, the chase was on. Off in the distance there was a light. He was certain that if he could catch up to it, he could be with his mother again. He ran and ran, guided on by a soft voice telling quite gently to keep going. He could make it. It was only a few more steps away. All he had to do was to abandon everything that was keeping him alive...
...and he did it. He was finally safe. Warm within his mother's arms. Nothing more would hurt him now. Nothing could hurt them. Not ever.
Ever since the "accident" two years ago, Ken continued to have this dream. Lots of psychologists were disturbed by his actions but he learned quite quickly to lie. They didn't really seemed to care. Besides, he took care of his hamster, participated in soccer and joined in when the discussions turned to "childish" things, like action shows. And to be fair, for some reason he managed to get enjoyment out of these things. He guessed it was some form of grasping at normal life and pretending everything was fine. But of course it wasn't.
His mother was dead, and it was no accident. It was a murder. The only reason he was alive was to find and kill his that person. He knew he had the power to do it. He even found out the name of her killer.
Shinji.
It's was probably a nickname or something. But he knew know that he was friends with Akihiko-senpai.
Ken lived within a dorm with high schoolers. The official reason was so that he wouldn't be alone all summer but now, he was starting to believe it was more because of this power he had. He had no clue about it, other that it allowed him to see something no one else could see. A horrific time when the world was blanketed in green and water was turned to blood.
It was during that time when his mother was killed. And he knew that this person could also experience this time. He could use it to his advantage...
"Featherman R! Tune in every Sunday to see the next great adventure of the greatest superhero team!"
Ken was broken out of his brooding by an advertisement for his favorite show. Somehow, even now, he couldn't help but watch every episode. Secretly in his room, of course. Wouldn't want to disturb his fellow dorm mates that might be in the lobby.
Though...there was one girl who really seemed to enjoy it...
"Hey, Ken-kun? Are you alright?"
Think of the devil and the devil shall appear. Ken kept quiet, hoping that Minako-san believe he was asleep or something. After a bit, he eventually heard footsteps retreating.
Minako Amano was a Junior at Gekkoukan High School. She was very nice and her fellow classmates, Junpei and Yukari, always spoke highly of her. And from what he'd seen of her around the dorm, he had to agree. She was nice and never spoke down to him. And she had this...air about her. She was strong and alluring. And she liked Featherman. That was intriguing.
Wait, best not get attached too much to any of them. He had to keep reminding himself that. It won't be long before he could be with Mom...
A/N: It's always a bit surprising to me how dark Ken's personality can get. Heck, his official description in the art book is nearly villainous. Anyway, this is a side-story to a liveblog I'm doing of this game, on TV Tropes, which is very much a fanfiction in and of itself. Go ahead and check it out! I also wanted to write down Ken's POV during the events in-game as well as I possibly can since this guy doesn't get nearly enough love. Or expression of that dark side of his. Though I swear it'll lighten up past THAT point in-game. Well, as much as the plot will allow.
