Prompt: "Love is an act of endless forgiveness, a tender look which becomes a habit" - Peter Ustinov
Forgiveness is the vessel in which we sail our seas,
It takes us across months and years
And shows us the way to the stars.
Tenderness is the tree that shades our days,
Covering our bodies with cool familiarity,
And allowing us to sink together into the grass.
I touch your hair and you grab my hand,
Flipping it over to stare at the scars
Collected from years of training and battle.
I watch your eyes studying my flesh, and wonder,
How did I get here? How can this be real?
Your eyes flash gold and a perfect rose appears in my hand,
Covering my scars, and cupped by my fingers;
Fitting perfectly into my palm, just as I fit perfectly into you.
Harboring love a heart expands.
Giving love we extend our hands.
Speaking love we share our voice.
Sharing love we make our choice.
