"You're a monster, Captain Zaraki," the Squad Four nurse said, gazing over the aggressive Captain's wounds just once and then sighing.
Kenpachi returned her distress with his trademark, blood thirsty smirk. It made the nurse's skin crawl. Still, she tended to the wounds without complaint. She wiped his blood away with a wet rag, hesitant about touching his muscular body. She didn't want to touch him.
"A monster, eh?" Kenpachi's voice was even creepier than his appearance. Its raspiness made her skin crawl. "Tell me; are you afraid of this monster?"
She inhaled sharply, pulling back to wipe off her bloody gloves and then prepared her healing kido spells. She touched the large gash across his chest as her hand began to glow with spiritual energy.
"Depends," she eventually muttered, "Do you plan on hurting me?"
Kenpachi chuckled, looking away as she touched him. "No. I don't believe in fighting women."
It wasn't because he was a gentleman, that's for sure. "Why?" She asked anyway.
"Because only a man has the true strength to give me an exciting battle."
The nurse inwardly gagged. She hated fighting. She didn't want to be a Soul Reaper that fought hollows or any other danger; she liked being the simple female in the background of things.
"But your Lieutenant is a female, Captain Zaraki," she mentioned. "So you must respect some women as fighters."
"Yachiru's different."
She didn't want to know why. With the gash across his chest healed, she finally moved onto his massive cut-up arms. "How did you get so beat up? Usually no one can even cut you," she said.
"You really want to know?"
"Nevermind."
Kenpachi's smirk came back into play; "You're scared of violence, aren't you? How expected from someone on Squad Four."
She frowned. "I would appreciate it if we left our squads' rivalry out of this conversation, Captain Zaraki."
Kenpachi's one visible eye flickered to her. She stiffened, feeling his cold stare consume her, but continued bandaging his wounds sufficiently. She was working faster than usual so she could send him off as soon as possible. She really didn't want his company.
Thankfully, a wounded Kenpachi was nothing to really worry about; he welcomed pain and possessed the highest endurance that made him the strongest Captain in the entire Soul Society.
"Hmm…" Kenpachi's body vibrated lightly beneath her hands. "But you're not a punk like the rest of your squad, and you're a lot tougher than you look."
"How do you figure that?" Her eyebrow arched curiously.
"Call it a fighter's instincts."
Her spells finished, the nurse bandaged Zaraki's body torso on up and then removed her gloves. "We're finished here, Captain Zaraki. And for the record, I'm not that scared of you."
"That would be your first mistake." Zaraki grinned with each spiked tooth of his showing. He swept his sleeveless haori on over his black Soul Reaper's uniform and headed for the door. When the door opened, Kenpachi's Lieutenant, tiny and pink-haired Yachiru, appeared in the frame.
"Hi Kenny, you look all better now!"
"I am. Let's go."
Yachiru grinned and looked into the room, spotting the nurse cleaning off her hands. "Thank you for helping Kenny!"
"You're welcome, Lieutenant" the nurse spoke carelessly and didn't watch Yachiru and Kenpachi leave.
Captain Zaraki moved swiftly through the emergency quarters, as if he'd never been wounded in the first place. Yachiru took her regular position on his shoulder and she hung off all six foot seven of him like a little doll.
"That nurse was really pretty, don't you think so Kenny?"
"Yeah, whatever," Zaraki dismissed Yachiru's comment. He had no interest in the Squad Four nurse. In fact, he didn't have time for women at all. He was waiting for the chance to fight again, like the monster she said he was.
