...

She was always good at gliding over perfection.

perfection is a long way off from where you are

puffs of frost swirling from your mouth

like ghosts, melting into the breeze {flitting}

you're the queen of ice, the bite of bitter never hurting

.

like a winter's day, c-o-o-l and sharp

pure and white, glimmering beneath the sun

looking whole, snow (faking) it's sparkle

because up close, snow burns, darling, it stings

.

you warned him, you did

that he'd get frostbite,

If he came to close to you, he'd get stung

(burn, baby, burn)

.

he came anyways, melting the snow

more than anyone else has before

and he saw beneath the white blanket of shimmery

snow, your protection

.

you warned him, you hardly even wanted him to come close

(much too young, much too naïve)

because it was supposed to Lily (silly)

or maybe Molly

.

never-ever the tall and glamorous Victoire

perfectionpersonified

the one with the whole world watching her from above

the one that glitters without ever trying

.

he took a step (1234)

and you let him (5678)

for the first time ever

you trusted

.

foolish ice queen

don't you know that the people who come near

get {frostbite}

from your icy external?

.

and for awhile, all was well

the shimmer was wearing off

the blanket no longer suffocating you

(like it once did)

.

but snow always comes back,

routinely, actually, darling, why are you forgetting?

when the sun fadesaway, it's time for him to l-e-a-v-e

when the clock strikes midnight, darling

.

and that sun set, with it he left

leaving you to pull the blanketback on

(but you're still cold, aren't you?)

to spread yourself over the sheet of glass, the rolling hills

.

spreading yourself again, everywhere, covering up

any evidence

of what you became while he was around

that young little, naïve boy,

.

so go back, dear, to shimmering

it's easier for you, isn't it,

to hide

to bite anyone who comes near with your frostiness

.

you still watch from timetotime,

but, you understand

that a snow queen

can never have a sunny prince

.

because what's the point of making

a snow angel

when all she'll be is messed up?

once a queen, always a queen
