Summary: This is the last conversation Batman and Catwoman ever had. They discuss the future of their future child Helena. They also discuss how things could have been different.

Chapter 1/1

Selena looked into Batman's eyes. It was really the only part of his face she could see. Even then she could see the pain he felt. She felt the same way.

It hurt to say goodbye. It hurt to leave everything behind. Well, not everything. There was a part of him living inside of her. She knew her unborn baby could never know what she had been like. If she knew her Father she would find out, Because Bruce refused to give up his life as Batman.

"Bruce, it's not that I don't love you. You know I do. I always have. I just don't want you to be a part of the baby's life. I don't want her to know anything about who she is, or what she is. From this night on, I am even giving up my ways. I want her to have the best of everything," said Selena.

"Selena, let me give it to her then. Let me be a part of her life. Please I am begging you. I can give her the best of everything. You know I can. What happens when she starts asking questions," asked Bruce.

"I don't know. I will deal with it when the time comes. But I don't want her to know who you are or what I was. What kind of example would that be? How would she feel towards me if she knew I was nothing better than a criminal," asked Selena.

Bruce just stared at her. For once he was speechless. He had given so much of his life up to the public. Why should he be allowed to be happy? Why should he be allowed to have a family? Why should his one true love stay with him?

He felt like such a fool. What did he expect that they would live happily ever after? Come on! This was Catwoman he was talking about.

Selena continued to stare at him. He refused to meet her gaze. It didn't matter how much she looked at him. She would never be able to tell what he was thinking. He masked his feelings like he always did. It was one of the things that always frustrated her about him.

"What about when she's eighteen or older? What about then? If she is willing will you then let me be a part of her life then? That is all I am asking of you," said Bruce.

Selena knew she had to at least give him that much. It was the least she could do? She knew that for a fact that one-day her daughter would ask questions. She knew she would want to know who her father was. What would she tell her then?

"That's all you're asking of me, really? That's the most I can give to you and to her as well. What if she starts asking questions before she is eighteen? What will I tell her then?"

"Tell her that I died. It doesn't matter how I died. Just tell her that. But then years later she'll know that you only lied to her because you loved her."

"I do love her. I love her already. I wish you could be in her life because you are her father and I love you. I just don't want her life to be in danger. And if you were in her life, her life would always be in danger. I don't want that for her. I want her life to be safe. I don't want her to have to die someday because of you," said Selena with full sincerity.

As much as it hurt, it was the truth. Because of him her life would always be in danger. He was Batman. He couldn't just give the job up, even for the people he loved. And this were the only way, so be it.

"I guess this is goodbye," said Selena.

She, who had been facing the other way turned to kiss him but he was already gone. She took off her mask and fought her own tears.

"I didn't even get a chance to say goodbye
