L on his side of the bed his laptop perched on his lap, his eyes fixed on the sleeping boy next to him. It had taken L a while to realise why he had instead of spending the midnight hours working on cases, he watched Light, at first he told he self that he had to keep an eye on him "he might let something slip whilst he is asleep" he would think pushing the truth to the back of his mind.
Tonight was not like the other nights that l had spent watching Light sleep, tonight the hevans had opened and a storm like no other was unleashed on them the mixture of rain and hail bombarded the windows, but what made this night so unbearable was the thunder that praticaly shook the building and the lighting that ripped its way through the sky, L had always hated thunder storms, they made him rather tense and jumpy.
Lighting filkered and the thunder that followed was impossible loud then the lights in the building flickered and died, Causing L to scream. Light Sat bolt upright his eyes searching for the sound of the scream, L sat huddled on his side of the bed his dark eyes hidden.
"L are you ok?" light tried to keep his voice cold, but when he heard that muffled sob come from the older man the ice melted he reached out a hand and ran his finger through L's hair "Hey its all going to be ok" Lights voice was as smooth as silk.
L moved so he was sitting on lights lap and curled in to the safety that was Light " I love you Light-kun" he murmered so quitly that light doubted he heared it, but he did and its that moment that will stay with him forever. That warmth that love that safety
