Noatak listens as his brother talks. "Just like old times," Tarrlok states. Noatak heard a rattling noise, moved one hand from the wheel. Must we die? He thinks. He starts drawing up water when he turns his head. His little brother had a glove over the gas. Noatak was about to step away, when his brother blew up the boat. Noatak jumped the last moment. He splashed around frantically, looking for his brother. He saw only a trace of blood.
"Tarrlok, why?" The right side of his bodywas screaming in pain. His eyes slide closed as he lost his battle against the blackness.
"...ay? He... Hey... wake up... Sokka!" Noatak opens his eyes to see the pretty brown eyes peering down at his. His limbs felt heavy. "Lay still. SOKKA, GET HERE AT ONCE!"
"I'm not worth saving." Noatak whisper softly. The girl lets out a laugh.
"Everyone is worth saving. No matter who they are, or what they do, everyone deserves a second chance."
"Sis, what is it? Oh, it's a guy. What is his name?" The boy, Sokka, look around twelve or thirteen. Noatak shut his eyes, and thinks of another boy. A boy that was too kind for his blood. A boy that grew up to be a man that was shaped as a tool.
"My name... My name is Noatak." The girl nods her head.
"My name is Tai, and this is my little brother, Sokka. Welcome to Koshi Island. Sleep now. We will protect you." His eyes shut again as the blackness came again. The next time he woke up, he saw Tai working over a stove, humming slightly. Her black hair was braided down her back. Tai turned around to see him awake.
"Good afternoon, Noatak. Lunch is almost done."
"You don't have to help me. I don't deserve it," The boy muttered asTai sat down beside the bed.
"In that case, make yourself deserve it. Please, don't give up your life," Tai said as she pushed his hair out of his face. "Leave your past life behind, and live for now." The door slammed open as a older man walked in, carrying the boy from before.
"Tai, your little brother tried to freeze someone again."
"That bastard deserves it. He was talking about Grandpa badly."
Tai slapped her hand to her own face? "Sokka, we have talked about this before. Don't use your bending."
Sokka squeezed his eyes shut obstinately. "But it's part of me. If Grandma Suki was here, she would encourage it."
Tai shook her head. "Sokka. I'm sorry, but until we find you a teacher, you CANNOT use your bending."
"You're a bender?" ask Noatak softly.
Sokka looked up and met his gaze. "First waterbender in the family line since my grandaunt, though her daughter is also a waterbender," Sokka said it proudly.
Tai sighed, "Grandpa was from the South Pole."
Noatak looked at the boy then the girl. "Maybe the spirits did send me here for a reason. I'm a waterbender, so I could teach Sokka." On the other side of the small room, three pairs of eyes widened.
"Really? REALLY!" The twelve year-old wraps his arms around him.
"Yes."
'Tarrlok, I will live for you,' Thought Noatak. 'Goodbye, Amon.'
