Suzaku's P.O.V
A couple of days have already passed since the funeral of one of his best friends at the Ashford Academy. He had been trying to investigate what her death. Though it was seen as a suicide, he didn't believe that she had killed herself. It was just not like her to do something like that.
With everything going on, he was reminded of the important talk he had had with her before her death.

"I…I like Lelou…"
"You don't like him, Suzaku?"
"I…used to like him…"
"What about now?"

Those were Shirley's last words to him before she passed away. These were the very same words that lingered in his ears and brought forth all the memories he had with Lelouch. It seemed as if the good times especially wished to dance before his eyes from that time long ago before he had been betrayed by his best and most important friend; the man he had once fell in love with.

"I can't forgive him…"

That was the answer that he had given the light orange-haired girl at the time. Of course, he couldn't forgive him. The raven haired Britannia had killed his princess, the gentle Euphy-hime. But then he remembered again what Shirley had said to him…

"Nothing's unforgivable."
"I'm sure it's you who can't forgive him."
"Because you don't want to."

When he had first heard those words, he had been shocked. The feelings of hatred and anger that festered in his soul had already blinded him to a point that he could not see himself forgiving the cast away Britannia's prince. Did he want to forgive Lelouch or not? Because not forgiving him was the only thing he could do, right?

"I've already forgiven him a long time ago."

Why can Shirley forgive all the sins that have been committed by him? Hadn't she regained her memories? So how could she so easily accept the crimes done by Britannia's young prince? The memories of Lelouch were really of Zero, the one who was responsible for murdering her father and the reason she grieved so. Not to mention all the times Lelouch had deceived her. So why? And how?
If she were still alive he would gladly ask her all the questions taking up residence in his mind. Yet, sadly, she could no long answer his questions. He would never hear what could be words of wisdom from her mouth again. So it boiled down to one question: forgive or don't forgive?
How he hated Zero; the one who had destroyed his life and was responsible for all this death and all the rebellions; the murderer, the one who put a curse on him. But deep in his heart, he knows that the merciless Zero was still his precious friend Lelouch, the one he had sworn to protect along with Nunally, the one he loved dearly. But now, can he do what Shirley has done concerning Lelouch?

That was the last question that was asked of him by the girl who had forgiven the murderer. And now, how can he answer the simple question?
