AN) Because Rodney should sing in every fic…

Also, what the heck is with Stargate Universe? I started to watch it (missed the first 15 minutes) and couldn't.

Rodney's Lab:

Rodney glanced around his lab making sure he was alone, and started in a low crackling voice. "When there's nothing left to burn, you have to set yourself on fire." He then raised his right arm as if he was holding a bow to a cello, his left arm was raised in the approximate position of the head piece where one would finger the strings and started playing to the tune in his head. Body swaying to the piece as he 'bowed' across the 'cello'.

His voice was low and smooth as he started to sing. "God that was strange to see you again, introduced by a friend of a friend…"

Control Room:

John stepped out of Woolsey's office and rubbed his eyes. Debriefings were so tedious. And the man had to have every detail! Well, it was over now and John could go find Rodney and the guys and get something to eat.

John stopped when the gate tech, Chuck, or something close, motioned him over, "What?"

"Check it out sir, Rodney's done it again."

Oh great. "What now?" John asked as he snagged a swivel chair and turned toward the tech. "Has he sunk another portion of the city?"

"No sir," He smiled. "He bumped the com switch, I muted it but…"

John reached for the purple dial, "Is he doing anything interesting?" He turned the dial.

"We drove in silence across lake Champlain, and all of that time you thought I was sad, but I was trying to remember your name."

The com was silent for a moment, but John could bet that Rodney was playing air instruments.

John recognized the song, 'your ex-lover is dead' and his hand hovered over the switch that would allow Rodney to hear him.

Rodney's Lab:

Rodney's arm glided back and forth on his imaginary cello, and as he was about to start the next part of the song he heard a voice come over his intercom.

The voice that came out was obviously a man trying to sing in a woman's voice, and wasn't very successful at the attempt. "This scar is a fleck on my porcelain skin." Rodney frowned, could they hear him? Then the verse changed and Rodney realized who it was. "Rodney is singing a Canada song, and we all in the control room, can hear him sing loud."

Control Room:

The Gate tech was grinning and trying not laugh and spoil the sound.

John paused to catch his breath and heard Rodney curse. "Well, keep me updated Chuck."

"Will do sir." Chuck grinned even harder after John turned his back, and he pulled the data stick he had just recorded onto out of the hard drive and pocketed it. Sometimes it paid to be a lowly tech.
