Dean felt himself slowly waking and began to move but immediately regretted trying. "Woah, slow down, man," A voice said, somewhere beyond the enveloping darkness Dean saw. He realized his eyes were closed but couldn't find the strength to open them. As he came to, he heard the sounds of wailing sirens far in the distance. "Don't try to move, sir."

"W-what happened?" Dean choked out, coughing and cringing at the pain that shot down his back.

"You were in an accident," the voice replied. "Do you remember anything?"

Dean fought to think past the pain that engulfed his whole body and a recent memory caused him to moan. "No… baby…"

The man sounded confused. "Baby? No, sir, there was no baby in the car. But I'm afraid your car was totaled." Suddenly the pain Dean felt paled in comparison to the agony he felt inside. Totaled. "What's your name, sir?"

"De… Dean." He began to get a sense of his surroundings. He was lying on the ground, that much was easy to figure out with the hard pavement acting as a crude bed. The sirens weren't as far as they had first sounded but were in fact right around him. There was a hum of activity, both man and vehicle, but only one man close by.

"Dean. I'm Sam. I would ask for a last name but I'm pretty sure you don't have the energy for that so we'll just settle on that until I get your wallet and find your ID," he said, his voice rising and falling as he worked at something Dean couldn't see.

"You… you're gonna st-steal a wallet from a guy that's… that's just been in a crash?"

The second of silence immediately followed by a surprised laugh caused Dean to jump, the sound echoing heavily in his ears. "Alright, maybe I'll just ask for your name when you're awake again." Sam must have noticed that Dean was falling back into unconsciousness before Dean did. "Don't stay out too long, man, or I may steal your wallet for real."

Dean felt a quiet laugh rumble inside him as he slipped back into the warm, quiet darkness. "Bitch," he whispered. And though he wasn't certain, he could have sworn he heard "Jerk" just before he lost consciousness.
