This is the story of Bluestar. Her greatest sacrifice, the ultimate betrayal, and her rise to power.
"Hey!" squealed Bluekit as Tigerkit swiped the ball of moss from under her nose. "I was playing with that!" "Not anymore!" growled Tigerkit as he batted the moss playfully. Bluekit dropped to the ground and waggled her haunches as if she were getting ready to pounce on Tigerkit. Just then, Sunstar, the leader of ThunderClan, appeared at the top of the HighRock.
"All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather under the HighRock for a Clan meeting!" he yowled. Bluekit and Tigerkit abandoned their game and pricked their ears forward. Redkit and Thistlekit scrambled over to where they waited excitedly. Bluekit's mother Moonflower padded over to where Bluekit was standing and began to groom her fur vigorously.
"Bluekit, Redkit, Snowkit, and Thistlekit," Sunstar called from the HighRock.
"Come here." The four kits scrambled over to the HighRock. Redkit climbed up first to stand beside Sunstar.
"Redkit, he meowed.
"From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Redpaw. Your mentor will be Icepelt." Sunstar repeated the process with all the kits. Bluekit could feel her pelt crawling with excitement. She was going to be an apprentice! And, she was going to be one before Tigerkit. She would teach that little show-off to steal her moss ball!
"Bluekit," meowed Sunstar, looking down at the excited kit.
"From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Bluepaw. Your mentor will be Tawnyspots." Tawnyspots! Bluepaw imagined the noble warrior training her to be as graceful and powerful as him. She could barely keep from yowling in excitement. She wanted to be leader of ThunderClan. She wanted to have all of the power and wisdom that Sunstar possessed. She wanted to share tongues with StarClan when she needed guidance from her warrior ancestors. She wanted to make apprentices and warriors and stand on top of the GreatRock during the Gatherings at FourTrees. She could imagine herself doing all of these things, and she couldn't wait for her dreams to turn into reality!

Bluepaw crept through the forest, her mouth open to taste the air. She could scent a fat vole scurrying through the undergrowth. She waggled her haunches, preparing to pounce on the unsuspecting creature, when she scented something else. It was another cat, but the scent wasn't threatening, but kind. Owlstar, the ThunderClan leader before Sunstar stepped out of the undergrowth. "Bluepaw," he meowed, his brown tabby pelt blazing with starlight. "You have a great destiny ahead of you. ThunderClan will never be the same again, and you will play one of the biggest roles in helping its warriors cope with the changes." Bluepaw's eyes widened in surprise. StarClan had sent Owlstar to tell her of her destiny, and he had said that it was one of the greatest destinies that ThunderClan had ever known. "You are like fire, Bluepaw, destined to blaze through the forest," he meowed mysteriously. Bluepaw had no idea what the ancient ThunderClan leader meant, but the prophecy sounded ominous. She opened her mouth to ask Brackenstar what he had meant, but the starry warrior was already fading. "Goodbye Owlstar," she whispered to the StarClan warrior. Suddenly, she heard the sound of dogs and shrieks of terror from many cats. The terrifying barks sounded like they were coming from dogs that were bigger than any that she'd ever seen, and the shrieks of terror were cut short. Bluepaw could imagine the dogs ripping the throats out of noble warriors and spilling their blood on the ground. What if the dogs attack ThunderClan? If they do, I'll fight them until my last breath.
