She wishes she was surprised. But in all honesty, she had seen this coming for a long time. She had seen the empty closet and the deserted bedroom for awhile now.

It hurt her more then she thought it would. The sharp pain in her heart. But it wasn't the end of the world. She would be able to live on, find someone else. She supposes it would have been worse if she hadn't seen it coming. But she knew that it would happen.

He was never hers to begin with.

She was never the one to own his heart, own his love. No, that had always belonged to the other girl.

She doesn't know the other girl's name. Only that she was considered a threat to their branch. She had never seen the other girl. But she had heard the talk about her.

Beautiful came up the most. Lovely, is what he referred to her as. With stunning eyes and long, pretty hair.

She had never let that description bother her. What had bothered her, was the way he looked when he described her. Or whenever he talked about her.

His sister told her not to worry about it. That she was just an old family friend. She now felt stupid. Stupid for ignoring the signs, for ignoring the instincts that her training had instilled on her. Instincts that told her that this was not what he wanted.

She felt stupid, but unsurprised.

She watched him sometimes. Fiddling with a coin. She had asked him about it. He just brushed it off.

"Just a coin." He insisted. "It was important when I was in Korea. But now it's nothing."

She suspects that it somehow relates to her.

She watches him again, right now. She is leaning up against the doorway. His back is turned to her, gathering up his remaining clothes.

"So that's it?" Her voice emotionless. "Were you even going to say goodbye?"

He sighed, pausing his work. He turns around. "No."

She nods slowly. "It's her right? The girl? It's always been her."

He doesn't react. She smiles. "I thought so."

He resumes picking up his remaining clothes. She picks up the coin he treasures so much and twists it between her fingers.

"What is it about this coin?" She asked, almost to herself.

She jumped when she felt his hands pluck the coin out of her hand. His eyes flash. He pockets it and grabs his last suitcase and turns to the door of the bedroom.

She follows him like a ghost. As they reach the stairs she calmly asks, "Where will you go?"

He ignores her, reaching the last stair he abruptly stops and turns around, almost crashing into her.

"I'm sorry." He said. His tone was business like, as if she were one of his business deals he was opting to not pursue.

She shrugged. "I was expecting it."

He curtly nods and walks to the front door. He was out the door when she called after him.

"What is her name?"

She didn't get a reply back.

She wishes she were surprised, but she wasn't. He was never hers to begin with.
