I apologize for the severely delayed chapter 10 of On Treasury, but I've finally found new inspiration and I will finish it asap.

1. Introduction

"What is a lovely lady like yourself doing so far away from home?" the young man asked with a little grin around his lips, 'though honest surprise lay hidden in his words.

He had heard about the Viera many times before and knew how they looked like. How many hours hadn't he spent in the library of the Archadian Akademy, studying the Viera and their marvelous way of life. Being the young, overprotected lord he was, he had never been outside the walls of the Akademy. From the moment he turned eight, up until when he turned twenty, he would spend his days studying and training. Of course, our lordship wasn't planning on having such life. He stayed around long enough to have received a decent training in combat and piloting.

"Haven't been outside much, have you?" the Viera replied, with a twitch of her long ears. "Viera do not only live in the woods, some chase a lesser dream."
A short pause, to measure his reaction.
"I am Fran. What is your name, stranger?" she raised her eyebrows while she awaited his reply patiently.

There wasn't much he would miss about Archades; he hadn't left much behind in the first place. Maybe his brothers, but they would eagerly please their father by forgetting him. Maybe his mother and the Galbana Lilies - normally only to be found in deserts - that grew at her grave. Maybe. Or possibly not.

"Balthier. It's a pleasure meeting you, Fran," he answered and he grinned his teeth bare.

He took a deep breath of hot air as he let his eyes dwell over the Viera's features. No, he was most certain of it; he wouldn't miss Archades and Archades wouldn't miss him.
