A/N 4/26/10: A little drabble set in Waka's POV that supports WakaXAmaterasu. I needed something to show I was alive.

What did I do deserve you? I ask myself this every time I see you. Every time you kiss me, hug me, touch me. Every time you grace me with your presence. You, a Goddess, and I, a lowly pauper, a member of a downtrodden, cursed race.
Your light warms my soul.
My beautiful sun; you care for all and truly hate none. You could have any being you wish, yet you stay by my side. It is the least I can do to give you all I am. I am not much, but you own me, heart and soul, in strength and in weakness.
I will journey beside you for all eternity.
If you willed it so, I would walk into the Dragon's Den. I would impale myself upon my own sword. I would face down Lord Orochi, Ninetails, Yami, any demon you asked. I would even fight night itself if you told me to.
Just please never make me fight you again.
Kami, I still have the bruises from that... Forgive me for lying about them.
Okami Amaterasu, mother and origin of all that is good, I love you. The red string of fate that binds us together is no shackle.
When darkness falls, ma cherie, and even your light cannot pierce it, I will be there. Together, we will overcome any obstacle. And when my body finally falls prey to age, I pray I will live on in your memories as a bright light of love.
I hope you remember me as someone who gave you the warmth you give so generously to others.
