"What a miserable mission,' he mumbled ', I totally failed."
Wing Gundam beeped quietly.
/A new mission…wonder what it is. /
He could feel the soldier part of him kicking in.
Leaping from Wing, he began sprinting towards the buildings.
His face rose as he saw the security system.
/ All right, something hard. /
The system wasn't too difficult, but he set off a small trip line.
The remaining guards would be there soon.
As he raced along the corridor, he again went over the mission,
Goal: Deactivate OZ cryo chamber in Hangar 6.
Recover specimen, if still alive take it with you.
He had reached the room.
He noticed that the corridor was chilly.
A soldier suddenly shouted nearby,
" Captain, the prisoners term is over. They're going to wake up."
" Shit!' the captain replied, ' I don't care anymore. Let's go, she'll blow us apart."
He smiled listening to the soldiers leave.
The lock clicked and the door swung open.
A blast of freezing air rolled over him and he shivered.
They had lit when he entered it, computers around the room had booted up.
Calculations were scrolling across screen after screen.
He noticed one in particular,
Subject Defrosting: Activated
10% complete
Gel liquefying
His eyes rolled over the room, taking in the outdated computers and equipment.
The computer monitoring the defrosting beeped,
Subject Defrosting: Activated
10% Complete
50% Complete
Gel Draining
A loud gurgling noise came form a corner.
He turned and stared.
A tubular capsule had just appeared from out of nowhere.
He noticed a small window.
Walking over, he peered inside.
What he saw almost knocked him over.
A girl, no older than 15 was inside.
As the gel drained from around her face, her features began to show.
High, well-defined cheekbones gave her a European look, but her hair and eyes suggested she was Chinese.
The gel had finished draining, the computer beeped again,
Subject Defrosting: Complete
Please remove harness
He went to the capsule and activated the release system.
The top of the tube shuddered and flew open.
She was already awake.
Her eyes, they were blue, a smoldering fire, set right in front of him.
Suddenly, her hand flew to his neck.
If you make a sound, she whispered, I can guarantee you will not be leaving here.
" ……" He tried to speak, but no words came out.
/What the hell?! She looks too familiar! / His mind was screaming.
The girl suddenly dropped him.
He hadn't realized she'd been holding him in the air.
He scrambled away and drew his gun.
She was staring at him.
Her eyes were no longer on fire.
Instead they were dancing.
He noticed her hair was already in a long braid.
" Yuy,' she said a little breathlessly, ' its only you. I thought the guards had come back."
" Hn. Let's go."
She obediently following him through the maze of passages heading towards the central core.
" Heero, why are you going to the core of the base?"
" Mission."
"…"
He continued to lead her towards the core.
Suddenly, he paused.
Something had made a noise to his right.
/ Soldiers! / His soldier instinct had just kicked into full gear.
/ Heero, control those instincts of yours. Those aren't soldiers. /
Some children whipped around the corner, Heero fired but missed.
He started pulling her in the other direction.
Suddenly, she pulled him back. He stopped and turned to look at her.
" What's wrong?"
" Someone's coming."
She paused, then,
'Heero go. They're looking for you."
He stared at her.
/ Leave her alone? Here? No. /
She was pushing him away, towards the nearest door.
He started to run, her screams echoing behind him.
He exploded from the building and sprinted for Wing.
He took a last look at Hangar 6 and saw her emerge.
Then, he turned and left.
