Nenuial, SA May 400...

Galadriel held the newborn elf in her arms. The child was swaddled in white silk blankets that kept her warm. Soft wisps of silver-white hair coated the baby's head. Galadriel smiled at her new daughter, "Beautiful...like star-light."

Two Elves walked into the room. A male who towered in the room with golden hair and dark eyes. At his side was a young Elf maiden. She was the splitting image of her mother. Long, light blonde hair, fair skin, and immeasurable beauty. "Mother," she said, sitting on the edge of the bed. "Do I have a sister?"

"Yes, Celebrian," said Galadriel. "A sister as beautiful as star-light...and her name is Silmarien."

Eregion, SA July 1350...

Silmarien walked through the gardens as her mind reeled over her parents' discussion with Gil-Galad. The Lord of Lindon had come for a visit, but was displeased by the company King Celebrimbor was keeping. Silmarien climbed up the steps swiftly and peered across the pond. A gorgeous Maia was sitting with the Elven children, telling them stories about a king who lost his throne. The Maia called himself Annatar, but it did not seem like his true name. His black eyes stirred something inside Silmarien. She did not trust him. And she wasn't the only one.

"Silmarien."

"My Lord," Silmarien turned her attention to King Celebrimbor who had approached her.

"You grow more beautiful everyday," he said, smiling softly.

Silmarien bowed her head, "Thank you. Forgive me...I must return to my mother."

"Why did you leave my Guard?"

Silmarien stopped in her tracks. This was the question she always dreaded. She turned back around and blinked innocently, "My mother wishes to travel to Lorien. I...I prefer to stay with my family."

"You could stay here, Silmarien," he said. "With me."

"Forgive me, my Lord...but I cannot."

King Celebrimbor raised his chin in thought. Silmarien bowed and left. Her pace quickened as she hurried out of the gardens. She was so lost in thought that someone had startled her. Silmarien jumped back, "Celebrian! Do you wish end my life so quickly?!"

"Calm down, Silmarien," her sister said. "I walked right up to you...you are so lost in your own mind that you could not see me. Where are you going, anyhow?"

"Home."

"Why? Mother and Father are seeing Lord Gil-Galad out at the moment." Celebrian walked with pride. She and Silmarien radiated beauty just like their mother, but the main difference between the two was the color of their eyes. Celebrian had their mother's pale blue eyes, and Silmarien had their grandfather's violet eyes. Galadhon was famous for his violet eyes.

"King Celebrimbor asked for my hand again," said Silmarien.

"Did he? Father thinks it would be a wise decision to accept," said Celebrian.

"Mother says to follow my heart...and my heart is not with the King." She turned to gaze upon the guards patrolling the borders. "My heart desires a sword at my hip and a bow in my hand. It craves the outside world, Celebrian."

"You could leave, you know? Travel about," Celebrian suggested, shrugging. "Mother and Father love you. Whether you decide to marry the King, travel about, or stay with them. Honestly, Silmarien, they will love you no matter what your decision is."

"It is true."

The Elf maidens squealed in surprise. Annatar the Maia stood directly behind them. His smile was friendly and bright, but it did not match the intensity of his eyes. Celebrian clung to her sister, "Forgive us, we did not hear you walking behind us."

"No, no. You are in no way at fault," he said. His voice was deep and smooth as a river. "Young maidens, such as yourselves, ought naught to be roaming around...unattended."

"We were heading home," Silmarien said. "Our father is expecting us."

"Your father?"

"Celeborn," said Celebrian.

His smile weakened. Annatar gestured to the sky, "The sun is sailing...shall I accompany you both home?"

"That will not be necessary."

Galadriel walked up the last step and strode over to her daughters. She stared unblinkingly at Annatar. Her face was emotionless, but her daughters could sense her anxiety. "I shall accompany my children home. You may return to your place in the forges, Annatar."

The corner of his lips twitched and he clenched his fists. Galadriel remained firm with her arms around her daughters' shoulders. Annatar nodded his head and gave one last smile before walking away. Galadriel watched him until he was far out of earshot. She placed her hands on her daughters' backs and guided them in the opposite direction. "We are leaving," she said. "Tomorrow."
