HELLOOOO. I haven't been on for a while, but I'm going to start a new story. Yep. Sorry if ya missed me.
Disclaimer: Do I look like Uncle Rick to you?!
Chapter One
I don't know where to start. The beginning? The real question is, where does the beginning start?
My name is Jen Sanchez. I live in San Francisco, and I'm 13 years old. Well, actually, I live at Camp Jupiter. Camp Jupiter is a place for Roman demigods. Five years ago, I made my way here from the Wolf House.
The thing is, I don't feel like I belong here. I never have. Latin was always hard, and it's supposed to come naturally to demigods. People always tell me that maybe I'm a legacy, and that's why.
But I don't think so.
I haven't been claimed yet, but that happens to a lot of people in the Fifth Cohort. We're "Greeks and geeks," according to the other four cohorts.
Another reason why I don't belong is because I'm the only one who doesn't think the Greeks are all that bad. But, of course, when I told Sophie she nearly screamed.
Sophie Wilson is my best friend. She's beautiful, but I guess it comes with being a daughter of Venus. Sophie isn't too bad when it comes to actually fighting. Compared to the rest of her siblings, she's the best fighter in camp.
One thing I always find funny about her is that she's still scared of the Lares, even though she's been at camp for two and a half years.
Sophie always tells me that I'm going to be claimed in the middle of the war games, after 'making my godly parent proud', but she says things like that to everyone. We were arguing about it right now, at dinner.
"Come on, Soph. You know that if you're not claimed in five years, you're not getting claimed." I told her.
Sophie rolled her eyes. "You still could be claimed! Remember Jack Smith? He was claimed after three years!"
I didn't reply.
"Jennifer. Rose. Sanchez. You know I hate it when you ignore me." I winced as she said my full name. Every day I question why I told her in the first place.
I got up. "Let's just forget about it, okay? We have war games tonight, so we have to get our armor. You don't want to be late."
Sophie sighed in defeat. I had a point. The punishments for being late were not the best.
"Alright, we've got the same job as usual," one of the Fifth Cohort centurions, Jacob, told us. There was a sigh from the forty or so kids who made up the our cohort. Jacob and our other centurion, Allison, began putting us in our places until only Sophie, Lukas, and I remained.
Both centurions thought about where to put us, but couldn't figure it out. So we had to help wherever we were needed. Might as well sit out.
I just joined one of the groups and pulled out my sword.
The next thing I knew, the game was starting and the loud sounds of swords clanging together could be heard across the Fields of Mars.
I lost track of Sophie halfway through, and the few seconds I spent looking for her were paid for.
I felt a burst of pain, and my vision faded into darkness as I fell unconscious.
Sorry for the short chapter. I'll try to make them longer, but that doesn't mean I'll succeed. I will most likely be posting new chapters throughout this week, but I can't promise anything. Bye! It's 2:18 AM where I am so I REALLY need some sleep. Good night...or morning, I guess.
